I always struggle with writing these introductions. I have to find the right balance between "great introduction" and "but not so that you then write the whole story."

I always struggle with writing these introductions. I have to find the right balance between "great introduction" and "but not so that you then write the whole story." Yeah. I was thinking that I might just write intro paragraphs for stories that I intend to write but just haven't gotten around to it. That way, if I get one, then I'll have some impetus to get it done, and have the advantage of writing a story I've already thought about.

It's much appreciated, Sensar! Basically, it comes down to: - Picking the best introductions people send you for the matches. - Deciding the make-up of the matches. - PMing people their introductions for their story. - Receiving the stories by PMs and posting them. - Receiving the reviews from people and posting them. Looking at an old Arena should clear up any issues and we're on hand if you have any questions. I'll clean up the Arena board so we can get ready for the 10th. Rinse and repeat. Sweet, and eminently doable with my schedule. Let's make this happen.

I was thinking that I might just write intro paragraphs for stories that I intend to write but just haven't gotten around to it. That way, if I get one, then I'll have some impetus to get it done, and have the advantage of writing a story I've already thought about. I think the general rule was the writer of the introduction doesn't get that introduction. Then again, I think that rule disappeared last time, so whatever people think is best. Also, I'm thinking about the matches themselves when writing the introduction. Two of them are going to be catering four stories each. I think the introduction shouldn't put those matches too tightly into a corner. So I just send my intro's to Sensar? Yep, then he picks whichever ones he want to use.

Man, it is hard to come up with the good intro with only 150 words. I don't really have much to work with when setting a scene.

I bumped the limit to 250 words when no one was looking. And it's a soft limit.
We just don't want people imposing too many things on the writers.

Oh cool. I felt my intros worked, but they weren't really giving any actual story for people to work off, even just an extra 50 was needed.

I think I've got some ideas for introductions. Just need to write them up, probably tomorrow at work.

I'm trying to get a nice spread of genre, while writing them open enough that people can totally subvert those expectations.

You probably want to get your introductions to Sensar soon so he can choose his two favourite for the first round.
