I know, I know. Le sigh. Even I've agreed in the past that it really isn't fair to judge flash against short or poetry against flash. Maybe I might. Working on something right now ... which might put a spanner in the works to be honest! Sorry! I just want to see as many people write as possible. As long as it's in the word limit, I don't much mind anything else.

What does the restriction mean ... exactly? As I wrote something and now don't know if it qualifies. I'm too tired to figure it out.

Nonlinear narrative, not in chronological order.
So think of a story, a "normal story". It'll start with A then B then C then D or whatever. A being the intro, D being the conclusion.
Basically, write it as BCDA or DABC or DACB or CBAD or DDAA etc etc. So long as it isn't ABCD its fine is my understanding.
Think of Series 5 Doctor Who.

But mine only has one scene! It's only just over the 500 limit .... nurgh! Was hard work too!

Jim is at a hospital. Jim walked to the park. Jim woke up. Jim broke his ankle at the park.

But mine only has one scene! It's only just over the 500 limit .... nurgh! Was hard work too! It can work with one scene. Type in nonlinear narrative into Google. There's a few examples and one good one about a guy who reads about his own death. Its short and it works.

Zonked from the day and the new job and actually writing rather than turning brain off with Facebook or BBC/iPlayer drivel. Nite :] Ta for explaining. Edit: Ah! Memento - the film. That was a great film. Brilliant. Will think more about my story. Not as easy as first thought but a good stretch of fingers.
