Conversely, I -love- that idea... >.> The only people who will know who's piece their voting for are those who vote for their own; so we can just assume everyone will have a plus 1 vote from themselves and the standings are even. Everyone votes every round. heck, even people who aren't writing can vote since the votes are a simple Yes or No. yeah, so pieces will get 15 reviews, other will get six. It doesn't matter.

I'd still say you can't vote for your own, but otherwise, yeah... I like that...

I'd still say you can't vote for your own, but otherwise, yeah... I like that... Honestly, I think the more secretive nature is what makes this competition unique. I mean, really, aside from having the first sentence given to you, it not that different from the AWR Cup. Not knowing who you're writing against, or who your voting for, might gie us some pretty unexpected results. We may find out we're more biased by names than we think we are. May even go so far as to PM the results to the writers so they know if they are advancing or not. . . so that nobody even knows how anyone else is doing until we announce a winner and triumphantly, amidst a pile of bodies in the center of the arena, he/she removes their mask.

I rather like the secretive idea. PM the one sentence line, PMing stories to "anonymous" for posting, secret competitor and such. It would remove all the bias/winners circle/popularity contest. It would also be completely different from the Cup!
I expect some will be able to tell from the writing who is who but it could produce some rather interesting effects.
Not sure about PMing the results though! We want to be able to enjoy from the outside too. Not seeing who progresses to the next round would be boring. That factor would still keep it competitive.

I like the secrecy idea too.

I'm fine with PMing the results or not PMing the results. I can really see the argument for both sides.

It's no big deal to me either way; I'm just throwing shit at the wall, seeing what sticks.

FILTHY SECRET KEEPING COMMUNISTS! ALL YOU WANT TO DO IS LET THE GOVERNMENT TELL YOU WHAT TO DO BECAUSE YOU'VE LOST THE AMERICAN SPIRIT.... But yeah, I'm warming up to the idea.

The not knowing who you are against might be a good idea. I'll be honest there are a few names that if I knew I was against them the first round I'd just drop. It would be a waste of time knowing I'd lose anyway so why bother?

I don't know, if we let everyone know the results, they'll know who's going to still be writing; this will especially be bad when there are only two contestants left. We will know who's who.
Maybe a compromise of letting results out publicly until the last (or last two) rounds?

Okay, Ceron, I lol'd pretty badly.
Dyl - agreed! If I knew I was up against Zovo or Kaez I'd end up fluffing it (see Cup - I got so worked up about writing against Taed I ended up strangling my creativity!) Not knowing would stop me from strangling. I probably wouldn't fret so much either once its posted.
Less grey hairs = win in my book! Hehehe.

To me it isn't a question of respect but of sheer probability. If I know for a fact I can't even come close why should I waste the time and effort? Saves time and ends with the same result.

We just need somebody to handle all the secrety stuff who isn't a member of the competition...
