If it was Round #1 Taed v James, I'd be done. That would have been the third year in a row for the January placed competition.

I put a fair amount of thought into the groupings.
I wanted James and Taed to be separated. I feel like their pairings are usually kind of hyped and it would be best if that was saved -- if it's going to happen at all -- for the playoffs. Similarly, I wanted Zovo to be away from Taed, because they had a comparable dynamic (at least in my mind) which meant that Allya ought to go to Taed's side to balance the four historic competition forerunners, and after that, Ref and Ink needed to be split because they, too, tend to fair really well in competitions.
Then I split the two proven writers (Dragon and Silver), the two up-and-comers (Injin and Jor) and the two haven't-written-in-forevers (Kwan and Blood).
And I made sure that Taed, James, Allya, and Zovo got one another in Round 1.

Actually if we were in AWR SEAL Teams, those exact people in each group sounds about right.
