I wish I was as devoted to this novel as you and Alice. I keep getting distracted writing other things. I'm sure I'll hit 50k words overall if I keep going at this rate, even if it's not all in my novel, heh. Too bad I can't use that to pad my NaNo count...

The fantasy section of the NaNo forums make me both happy and sad. Happy that I'm not going to be fighting it out for agents and publishers' attention with too many people from there. But then they reinforce the fantasy stereotype that I so like to dispel.

But then they reinforce the fantasy stereotype that I so like to dispel. I dare not look at it! Mind you, doubt I'd ever send this off for publishing. The story's really freaking daft and it keeps getting more wild and weird! 12k finally by the way! My personal target for today. Think Alice is going for 13k. Her target is to beat my word-count every day XD Oh, and the stew is finished. Smells bloody amazing! Mmmm beefy stew!

I want to get a couple of hundred words out before I'm done tonight. Bloody right I'm aiming to beat you! You've beat me ever step of the way every other time. It's time that the tables started to turn. *evil laugh*

I think if you want to work as a writer then that's something you have to train yourself to do. I find that whenever you're writing a considerable amount each day, a part of you will scream out to try writing something new no matter how much you like what you're currently writing. The key is to just ignore it. Or set aside half an hour each day to writing something beside your novel.

That's some good advice, Agro.

Well, that's another 1k and now over 7,500. Hopefully by tomorrow I can hit 10,000.

Oh man. Vinnie, Lawrence and DCI Collingwood altogether in a room. The three character that in my head all speak with perfect diction and accents. I wish this scene could last forever.

I haven't read anything involving Collingwood, but I know I'm going to love him.

I haven't read anything involving Collingwood, but I know I'm going to love him. I have yet to struggle on any scene where Vinnie and Collingwood are involved. That's why I'm pretty confident that those short stories I plan to do once Phantoms is done could actually go places.

The key is to just ignore it. Or set aside half an hour each day to writing something beside your novel. Amazing advice. I'm at the "Blarggh-don't-make-me-even-look-at-that-novel" stage! I'd love to go to another project (I considered Da'avni Dragons yesterday morning just because it isn't fairies! It's easier to start new stuff than continue this) or just not write for a few days ... but that's what you have to ignore. I know my novel is good and I know the writing is good for me as well and there are a lot of moments I'm enjoying during the writing process and inside the writing as well! Just gotta chew down on th procrastination and ignore the "Blergh" feeling XD No matter how fed up I am with writing this novel at this moment ... you watch that bastard word count go up, and up, and bloody well up! Never give up, never surrender! How hard is it to write 2k words per day? ... Bloody hard but it's possible and it is worth it. Better than playing any game, wasting your life away on the sofa! ^ Pep-talk

Never give up, never surrender! We shall have consultations on the beaches. And on the hills. We shall never surrender... as long as it is in our economic interest to do so.

Thank you, Agro. I had considered giving up on reaching the word count last might when I remembered your advice, so I forced myself to keep going until I got to the 10k. It turned out to be an interesting development and spurred me to think of new ideas as a result all day.
So thanks for the advice.
