It's amazing how European fantasy maps can look. Either Europe is ingrained in our minds to the point were (I at least) we see Europe in these sorts of maps, or we design them subconsciously or consciously. Crazy.

Either Europe is ingrained in our minds to the point were (I at least) we see Europe in these sorts of maps, or we design them subconsciously or consciously. Crazy. Well... I'll tell you what I think. I didn't design this to be European-esque. I actually don't think that it is very much like Europe. But I did design it to carry with it a deep sense of realism. To look, physically, quite realistic and not too fantastical. And in doing so, my only actual basis in real-world geography. Now when you combine that with our natural tendencies to relate all maps we see with maps we're familiar with (I couldn't stop comparing my dual-continent map to Azeroth a while back), then it seems likely that it's a mix of subconscious and conscious on my part, and subconscious on the part of the viewer.

Hey guys whatFUCK OMG YOU GUYS WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SO AWESOME. Thank you very much. I basically spend the entire day doing almost nothing but working on this. And Erakko spent an awful lot of time on it, as well. But I like them all -- they're all interesting languages, and we've got audio up for all of them except two at the present. Super excited.

For anyone who may be following this with some interest -- a lot of progress is being made, even if it doesn't look like tons is.
Pages for two of the 'continents' are up, Ythrador and Ptyevia, along with two pages of subregions -- the Rosia/Gilaan subregio of Ythrador and the Horse Clans of Ptyevia.
While, right now, there's not a ton very much information up on Rosia/Gilaan or the Horse Clans, you can see by the labels on the maps in the 'continent' pages that I've figured out quite a lot and am getting to writing it all out. In other words -- the world is developing in my head more quickly than I can really write up.
I spent quite a lot of time yesterday writing up some longhand in pen about my plans for the Horse Clans and I've got a really, really great culture planned out that I can't wait to write out -- expect plenty on that sometime within the next two days.
Until then, the big thing is the Linguistics thread, which hopefully some more people take a look at. With Erakko's help, that thread's going to serve as the foundation upon which everything else can be speedily built.

But I have to organize these things. and editing posts that are already there is a lot easier than waiting and making the post when I need it. WHICH IS EXACTLY WHY I'M UPDATING EVERYONE HERE INSTEAD OF THEM RELYING ON NEW THREADS MEANING NEW CONTENT.

I have to say, Kaez. I'm impressed with both quantity and quality of work you've been producing lately. No doubt when my schedule frees up at the end of the month you'll see some reviews of mine (as well as jumping on all the writing I've had to put off).
But, to put it simply - keep up the jolly good work.

Listened to some of the languages yesterday! How on Earth did you manage to pronounce all of that? Pretty whacky and fun and -very awesome-! The maps are also really detailed. You need to be a cartographer! I will repeat what I said the other day in chat: very glad that you are back on the project and in your own element again :] (When I get some actual free time I will have a closer look. I owe a few people a review/read >.< but NaNo, real life, Flashies, everything else is sucking up time.)

Grrrrrrrrrrrr.... Kaez, I looked at your map again, then back at mine and I am extremely unhappy with mine now, where I was merely alright with it before. I DEMAND YOU FIX IT!

awritersrecluse.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=evern&action=display&thread=3132This one. It could just be the cleanliness of yours versus this one, or just the shape or size. As it is right now, all I need is one continent, not even an entire world. And like, the relative size of Australia too. I just need deserts in the southern portion, and the rest be whatever fits where. It's starting to bother me.
