"What do you mean when you say, 'Dialogue only.'?"
"I mean, just format the entire piece as a discussion between two people."
"Won't that get confusing?"
"Naw. Just give both of them distinct voices and follow an alternating pattern."
"What about 'he said, she said' tags?"
"Are those dialogue?"
"No."
"Alright then."
"What if I put one person in italics so it's easier to tell them apart?"
"I dunno... I guess while you're writing you can do that; just so you don't get mixed up. But if you need to put them italics in the finished product in order to tell them apart, then your characters are probably too similar."
"Hmm, good point."

Zovo"What do you mean when you say, 'Dialogue only.'?" "I mean, just format the entire piece as a discussion between two people." Inkdrinker But we're not limited to only two people, though that would certainly be the easiest way to do it. I want to know if it's cheating to format it like this, as in a script. No description, no added flavor, just the character name.

Dialogue tags are fine. Script formatting is fine. Abstaining from everything but direct quotes is fine.
What's not fine is anything beyond that. "For example, something like this," she sighed longingly.
Don't do that. That's not just dialogue at that point.

I will say, while I agree with Pete, if you do what Adam showed (and do it well), then you've done likely a fantastic job.

Hey, look guys. In the last hour I've just become swamped in work, and now study is going to be busy over the next fortnight.
I'm going to get around to judging, but it might be a little slow.
Also, Saywer & Injin, I hope you don't mind if your Round 5 reviews wait. You both get the win, and I will review them, but yeah... my life got hectic in the space of 6 hours.

I guess I've kinda given up on round 5. Might still get something in, but don't wait for me.

Got my reviews in for Rounds 5 and 6.
I honestly enjoyed every single story I reviewed. Three of them were comedies and all three comedies were -good-. You all did great in both of those rounds and should be proud of what you wrote. I was uniformly impressed.
James will be getting his reviews in either tonight or tomorrow. Points have been distributed to everyone in matches without competitors, so the only match left that needs a review to determine points is Sensar v. Sawyer. Everyone else has 6 points on the table.
And so here's the situation:
In Round 7: if Injin beats Sam, he and Sam are tied for 5-2. Similarly, if Jason beats Sawyer, he'll be at 5-2, and if Sensar beats Adam, he'll be at 5-2.
That'd be a 4-way final. With no admins in it.
However! If Sam beats Injin, Sam will be 6-1, and therefore win the competition.

Injin the Giantslayer, you can do this. Don't let this upstart newbie walk all over us!
