I'm at 1404, by the way. Which is not quite where I ought to be, but which should soon catch up.

I did a blog post regarding my short time with the Flat Earth kids. You can visit my sad little blog-in-progress here: astephengetty.wordpress.com/I'm still not sure what to do with it and I'm still "finding my voice" I think, but it's serving as a sort of thought dump at the moment; somewhere to put shit that's clogging the brain tubes to make room for other things to flow.

I'm really, really considering writing a blog. Are you finding the experience worthwhile?
I've been published a few times and everyone always have social media accounts linked to in their bios and I have nothing. A blog would at least give me something to put there. But I'm always worried about the whole "no one is reading this you look sad" feeling.

I'm really, really considering writing a blog. Are you finding the experience worthwhile? Right now, only as a word dump. It really does help free up space in my brain to think about other ideas when I get other stuff out on paper. It's not so much a "nobody is reading this you look sad" feeling as it is, "Nobody is reading this, I'm just talking to myself." feeling. I can talk to myself without putting it on the internet. I don't really know what I was hoping for when I started it, but I don't feel like it's going to develop into anything without some manner of feedback... So, that's where the lack of readers becomes frustrating. If you did make a blog, though, I would subscribe to it and read it just so you know someone is paying attention. I do feel like I need to increase my "social media presence" but with no one looking it feels kinda pointless.

I don't really know what I was hoping for when I started it, but I don't feel like it's going to develop into anything without some manner of feedback... So, that's where the lack of readers becomes frustrating. Yeah, I can see that. Also, just flicking through, I really relate to the whole "I don't want to blog. I want to write stories" part. That's why I haven't done anything yet, it's sort of a terrible combination of doing it for an ulterior motive (social media presence, not because I want to blog) and then doing it essentially just for my eyes. It's not an attractive starting position. Then I could subscribe to yours and we'd be blog buddies and everything would be right in the world! I have been thinking about what I could post on it. I have this poetry and I never really try selling my poetry, so I could put that up. But then I think my main problem is the lack of a "gatekeeper". What if my poetry is shit but there's no one to tell me before I post it? Same with old short stories. I'm thinking I could do some book reviews. I read enough last year to cover that. But yeah, I might ponder more about potential content before I do anything.

It's not an attractive starting position. Yeah, I'd hoped to do about one post per week, but I have like zero motivation to do so. Then I could subscribe to yours and we'd be blog buddies and everything would be right in the world! Huzzah! Also, I think Sawyer has one I've subscribed to as well. Book reviews are good. In fact, talking to Stan, there's a whole pile of aspiring writers who are not only looking for people to write reviews for their work but will also pay for said reviews. If you could get your name out as someone who wrote good reviews, it might be a good way to network and meet folks who can open doors.

But I also have just such an involuntarily aversion to it. Like, I want to read what I want, when I want. I don't want to read what get shoved in front of me. I think this all comes down to writing as a hobby versus writing as a job. I'd love to write for a living, but I'm not thrilled with all the other stuff you have to do besides from the writing.

I did have a kind of cool idea for a blog, though. Rachel hasn't seen any of the classic sci-fi films. We could watch them and then I could interview her. Some guys did that with his wife with Classic Doctor Who and it was great.
... I'm sure she'll be fine with not doing anything else with her evenings. We've got plane tickets together for May this year so she can't leave me now.

Which I said I was going to keep up with, and here we are several months later and the only thing on there besides the intro post is a short mobile update saying I'd post something soon. No time like the present I suppose, I was going to use it as a movie/book/game review platform as well so I could go make a top 5 best things I played/watched/listened too for 2015(I still haven't read anything new...) as filler while I get my shit together writing wise. Worked on my novel a little bit, gonna have a brief power nap and then work on some potential arena intros until I leave for work.
