You are going to have to make it so there's a logical reason for the fight to take place there and you know it. It's not a fight. The central confrontation is a talk. On neutral ground. Where the ground is an implied warning I got this. Do you?

I've decided to put the central confrontation of the book on a rock just off the island city's boundaries in the middle of the sea. ... because it seemed cool? This is definitely not the right way to write a novel. Ended up being the only scene I've been truly happy with. 32,000+ words. I'm hoping I'm now at the point where the 50,000 will pull in through the gravitational force of "well I've got this far I might as well fucking finish."

Just bounced off 32k ... changing POV for a few scenes really helped! Still not achieving word count for the day but am slightly above the daily target so should be survivable. Hopefully will get a chance to provide more buffer at the weekend.

35k and today's target met. Also, funnily, my average per day is exactly 1,667 which is the daily target.
15k to go. Is not much, is it? Really? Should be easy, right?

It's going well at the moment because I haven't had to write as Protagonist B. If I come back to edit it, that part of the book has to be replaced by something better.

Day early but 40k! Woop! Managed to buffer over weekend and have just been adding to it.
Writing is definitely getting easier now the finish line is in sight. Am currently writing myself into a corner though. I have no idea how they are going to get out of this situation ... oops!

Maybe you're writing about how a ghost town becomes a ghost town.

Just joined you on the +40,000 threshold! I think the first draft is going to end up at around 70,000 words so I'm planning on keeping the NaNo speed up for the first half of December to make sure I finish it.

Maybe you're writing about how a ghost town becomes a ghost town. Went with your ghost town idea when they came back from Indian trip. Is a shadowy demon and zombies stalking them. Currently only three (known) survivors are in the cellar of the church. Town is deserted and they found bodies of some people slain amongst the pews upstairs. No clue where to go from here or how to get them out. One will probably die. Would add to the drama and word count >.> heh

6,600 words to go. I'm nearly past the ill-fated "oops I've ran out of novel" NaNo attempt. Despite my concerns about the book, I'm feeling super good about the idea at -finally- beating NaNo.

40,000. Going to be a fun three days. Eesh! Not going to be easy. Good luck! Sitting at just under 47k here. Hoping to get to 50k. Getting close to running out of story!
