20,175 words and 50+ pages.
We're 6,000 words away from this being the second longest thing I've ever written.

20,175 words and 50+ pages. We're 6,000 words away from this being the second longest thing I've ever written. Dude. Congratulations.Seriously. Keep that shit up. I hope Saturday I can get on Skype and chat with you about it, 'cause I'm really eager to. NaNo didn't really work out for me, but I'm perfectly okay with that. I did, and am, getting a lot of great worldbuilding done, and I'm also busy doing some other things (like an honors thesis, and getting involved in some community stuff in Destiny on a level I haven't done since the hayday of WoW) that I'm perfectly happy with. But I'm really excited for you. Are you still doing the kind of "skeleton to be later fleshed-out" thing? 'Cause if so, this is gonna end up surpassing Phantoms.

That's awesome James, glad that you're keeping sweet pace.
I'm alive. I'm still in the fight and only a day's count behind, but that's natural for me, I like that last day to be a bit of challenge anyways. The prose is mush but I'm still pretty happy with its development. Definitely looking forward to editing the shit out of this come December.

Seriously. Keep that shit up. I hope Saturday I can get on Skype and chat with you about it, 'cause I'm really eager to. I'll be on Saturday. I don't know if we're doing this Spirit of 77 or not, but we can probably run two mini NaNo Inklings on both Saturday and Sunday for Reffy's benefit. Do we get to see some of that worldbuilding, huh, mister? Nah, it's good to hear you still got some stuff done. Also, in between Destiny stuff, we still need to fit in a game of FIFA at some point. Kind of? I'm definitely not writing a "finished product". It's probably not "bare bones" either. Somewhere in between. I'm definitely writing with a mindframe of "I can come back and flesh this out later", though. My main issue I'm still not sure about the tone. I think I've already said, I started off with this gritty dark outline and I find that a little boring. I think I want to infuse the darkness with some subtle humour and that will be easier to do after everything is written.

Definitely looking forward to editing the shit out of this come December. I feel like I'm going to leave it untouched for a couple of months after I'm done. Work on some other stuff. Good to hear someone else is keeping up as well! Between Reffy, J Russell, you and I, AWR could have four NaNo winners this year. That's 200,000 words minimum!

Still going. Has been difficult again. Probably because it isn't my usual genre. Only got down 800 yesterday and then spam watched Constantine with Chris. Oops!

Also still going here. But I'm waaaaaaay behind, at like 12,000 words
Honestly, I'm just happy to participate. Be nice if I get a second wind and get the 50K by the 30th, but I'm just happy that I've written this much.

Reminder to self: try not to distract yourself with ideas for other stories while writing...

Also, not all POVs are created equally. I'm going to have to ponder during the edit stage to make Fletch the Conservator as interesting as Solomon the Kingpin.

I've decided to put the central confrontation of the book on a rock just off the island city's boundaries in the middle of the sea.
... because it seemed cool?
This is definitely not the right way to write a novel.

This is definitely not the right way to write a novel. You are going to have to make it so there's a logical reason for the fight to take place there and you know it.

The central confrontation is a talk. On neutral ground. Where the ground is an implied warning I got this.
