I've read all the stories now. But I'm rather drugged up at the moment with antibiotics and such for dental stuff (I'm catching up on four years of dentistry now that I have an income that can afford it). Fortunately I haven't left it too late, and I only need a few filling, a very heavy clean, and some drugs to clean up a small infection (which is what triggered my fear to rush off to the dentist this weekend).
Anywho, it means I'm not feeling particularly articulate presently. I'll hopefully be able to put something together though if the side-effects calm down.
Taed's not finished anyway.

I'm aiming to finish on Tuesday, because I definitely won't be able to do it on Wednesday, Thursday.

Well, the jokes on you guys. I'm too distracted by crippling anxiety about the dentist to care about you mocking me.
Ha.
Haha.

Done!
24 stories read and judged. I'll say more once Taed is done and we can have a bit of a debrief.

Team Zovo 17 - 11 Team Kaez Congratulations to Team Zovo for their victory! In the end, Team Kaez faltered and allowed Team Zovo to end up winning by a large margin. Overall, the competition was kind of successful. It fell apart toward the end, but the first three rounds were great. However, I think a de-brief would probably help everyone. So... A: Claim your stories (if you want to). B: Post your general thoughts about the competition. Did you enjoy yourself? Did it work well? Any changes? C: If you want to ask questions of Taed and I about our judging, feel free. I'm hoping we can also chat about this at the next Inklings, but go ahead and let us know what you thought.

I claim team Kaez's match 13, 7 and 5.
I'll post my general thoughts once I get back home from capture the flag.

1) "I can't let you do that, Dave." - When your dementia makes you re-imagine your workplace's AI as a 'friendly' co-worker, it's time to call it a day. Match #3
2) "Wandering free, wish I could be, part of that world." - Sushi restaurants and hospitals, know the difference when applying for a leg transplant. Match #4
3) "Let's take the stairs!" - An ode to the neglect of stairwells in Tokyo Love Hotels, and buildings in general. Based on a terrifying real life experience. Match #7.
I had a little fun with a colour theme as well, just to reflect the AWR team colours. Blue was the colour of the duplicitous AI in the first story and the Peacock girls' dress in the third. Red was the poor innocent mermaid's tail in story two and Kozue's dress in story three.
So, I wrote for the the first three weeks, kind of before the Tournament fell apart. Quite enjoyed all the topics I wrote for and most of them in general (Filthy, filthy Nebraska). I had never really indulged too much in flash fiction nor romance so it gave a chance to expand the palate. The team dynamic and the peer editing it lead to was also a great part of the tournament and I hope it's used in future writing events. Overall, a lot of fun!
No complaints with the judging, perhaps minor disagreements and quirks, but nothing as big as round choices.

once I get back home from capture the flag. Do adults do this? I want to play capture the flag. And kickball. And dodgeball. Ohhhhhh god yes. I think the oldest guy in our clan is like twenty-seven I think. Me and a bunch of buddies from band and choir started when we were all sophomores and we've been going strong ever since, and we always get new people every year. Average game size is like twenty people, but we've had as many as forty at a time. Lot of fun. Anyway, as for general thoughts I did thoroughly enjoy myself, despite it kinda falling apart at the end. I feel like I got the feedback I needed, and the team aspect was a lot of fun. And no real questions about judging, just thanks, especially in regards to Match 13. Seriously was so excited for that round and then I started writing and realized I had no fucking clue how I wanted to start that re-worked plot.

The Terror, High Seas Fantasy and Spy Fi
Like Ad, just disagreements.
I am stunned however that I was accused of having some wit in the Spy fi one.
