I honestly don't mind people questioning my judgment as long as everyone realises that no decisions are being changed. Because, who knows, maybe more information will come out that can help the writers. I don't think anyone expects that. That's super silly.

What is this, are the trees quaking in their roots? My level of emotional investment in the judges' feedback is about as low as it comes, personally. I'm filling the role as public voice of private concerns of team members. As far as I'm concerned, the "competitive" aspect of this thing is beyond secondary compared to the fact that it's supposed to make everyone a better writer, and therefore -any- feedback from the judges which is thorough and sincere, even if I personally disagree with it, is good and welcome and what this whole thing is about. Sounds like you're already making excuses for your inevitable failure.

First, I just want to second that. Secondly, if people get their reviews and are upset with them, I just want to say this. First up, that's absolutely okay. Trust me, I've been there a fair few times before and have handled it with varying levels of grace. Here's the one thing you should do. If you think the review is unfair and wrong, don't just get angry at it. Go through the review, point-by-point. Think about what they say and then try to truthfully rebut it. There's been a few times where I get a review and my initial response is just "BUT YOU DIDN'T UNDERSTAND, GAH!". And then I go step-by-step, and I can't rebut a single thing the person has said. And that's where you can start to work from. Also, there will be times where you can rebut every single criticism and you know what? It sucks. But then, just take the feedback on a more general level. If people are really interested/concerned/excited/whatever, make a note of it. We can have a post-competition Inklings and talk the whole thing over.

Oh yeah, deadline day ended 14 hours ago here.
Fortunately, I don't think we'll start using New Zealand time as AWR's universal clock.

I haven't read the story yet so maybe it's explained...
... but I think the top of entry 5 may be a case of dyslexic numbers.

I forgot how much I hate reviewing Flash Fiction...
(Not that the stories are bad, they're both actually really good. It's just, I feel like I never have much to say.)

I forgot how much I hate reviewing Flash Fiction... (Not that the stories are bad, they're both actually really good. It's just, I feel like I never have much to say.) Anytime I review flash fiction I always get really self-conscious about the word count of my review. Like if the review runs longer than the story I end up feeling like shit about it.
