((Obviously, we need an introduction to the show to lead-in the news with. I've written a base for us to work from but please, please, comment, add, take away, discuss the whole thing so we can get a great beginning to the pilot episode.))
Good morning, listeners, and let me welcome you to another day.
As we all know, the artificial lighting was turned on a full twenty minutes ahead of schedule. We still do not know why. The Ship's Government has refused to comment on the punctuality of morning. Did we upset [ship's name]? Maybe. Is this the cruel joke of an Artificial Intelligence? Unlikely. [Ship's name] does not care about us. Or maybe she's just helping us by giving us more time to ponder on the vast, never-ending, ceaseless expanse of space.
We'll let you decide.
For all our astute listeners, you know that today is an exciting day! It's 1,000 years since [ship's name] left Earth and ventured out into space. Isn't that amazing? A thousand years ago, the few remaining stragglers of Earth decided to leave the agony of the Event behind and reach for the stars. What was the Event? We do not know. But it was terrible. Despite this terribleness, it spurred us on as a race. It led to [ship's name] and her immense, indifference intellect. People and robots of all colours and base metals ventured within [ship's name] and she now leads us to the promise lands of New Earth. New Earth, so far, far away.
We have been travelling for so long but [ship's name] has kept us safe. And one day, though we'll all be powered bones and dental museum exhibits, we will reach New Earth.
And we started this epic journey, leaving the burning wreckage of Earth behind, 1,000 years ago to the day.
Wow.
Now, while you set about making your nutritionally balanced breakfast and head to work areas, recreational schooling, unrecreational schooling or wandering aimlessly around your home, we've got a heck of a show for you. We're going to be celebrating this historic day with some history. Also, we've got ship elections to talk about. And wait till you find out what incident has got the scientists chattering.
But first, listeners, the news.
