Okay ... enjoying this one much, much more! The freedom to just piss about and make nonsense is nice.

Making this one a little more lighthearted was actually the reason I chose the topic. The trickiness of it was more-or-less happenstance.

Tehehehe. Chris just compared it to the Conan stories ... I think this is EPIC! Still writing.

Lighthearted in the way I've intentionally followed Edward Lear's advice of keeping the reader detached from the characters so that it's perfectly acceptable for horrific tragedies to occurs...

Roughly 2,700 words :] And enjoyed every bit of it. {Edit: Chris doesn't think it fits the "Nonsense" topic but it's historically inaccurate as the Vikings never made it to the West side! Which makes it nonsense }

I'm on my third draft and it looks nothing like my first. I maaay not post anything for this one just because I'm constantly reimagining nonsense.

You might as well post something up. Get some feedback, learn from it. See what worked and what doesn't work if you ever find yourself wanting to write something similar. You've got nothing to lose. Appealing to the competitor, Sekot: Post something. Even if you get 10/50, that ensures that I can't have a rest round. I'll have to write something for every round to make sure I stay in first.

My thought process when writing something at least somewhat comedic:
Eugh. Comedy. It's so tricky.
Man, this is fun.
Oh, that should be brilliant. James, you're brilliant.
Snap. That's possibly the best joke you've done.
This is fantastic. I should write comedy more often.
Wait, I've used that before... I need something funny to go here.
This is getting dry.
Eugh, why doesn't this sound funny.
Nobody is going to laugh.
This whole thing is rubbish.
Fuck you, Pete.

So I think my hullaballoo was premature and I've got a story and its ridiculous. Not really all that funny, but it is absurd. And now to edit it to make it even more absurd. I'm actually excited about this one.

I'm actually excited about this one. I like the fact that my puns extend to what I think are really clever to what I think is god awful. Which is what most puns should be.

It took me a long time to learn to appreciate puns and while I might not employ them I appreciate those who do. Just not in excess.
