*peer pressure!* (well, kinda) I'll go the route Agro is going. If there is a judging shortage I'll do that, if not I'll be an easy knockout. If there is only one judge shortage I'll talk with Agro and see what we will do 'bout that. You get to join me at the top of the list. It's where the cool people are.

If Taed decides to, that's basically two at the most.

Dude, judging is -way- more work than writing. . . and, IMO, not as fun as it lacks the creative element and the freedom of the writing process.
I'm not trying to talk folks out of judging, it's just the way I see it.

I like being able to say, "Yeah, I think I've helped people learn how to improve their writing, today."

See, that's what I walk away thinking once I've reviewed; then I read their reactions and think, "Well, I've talked some people out of ever writing again today." I'm sorry you can't take honesty. (not you Kaez, just folks in general)

See, I'd rather have someone say "this wasn't a good piece because *insert real reason here*" than say "It was good, just not for me *insert vague dodge here*.
I've had both given to me and with the former I can look and say "yeah, that was a total failbomb. Don't do that again." With the latter I'm left wondering what the flaws were and what worked. As if it hadn't been reviewed at all.
*shrug*
Maybe its because I already judge my own efforts very harshly.

Hell, even flaming is better than "Oh, well, this was quite good, very solid, yes, quite, but not my type of reading. . ."

I think if I end up judging I'll be completely fine with that.

Hell, even flaming is better than "Oh, well, this was quite good, very solid, yes, quite, but not my type of reading. . ." That's actually one of the troubles I have with reviews, sometimes. When a reviewer dings me on something that was -intentionally- written a certain way. Something like "bad grammar" when it's character dialogue; or too vague, when the intention was to be vague; or it took me a long time to figure out what was going on, when that was exactly the goal (to keep the reader guessing). Those are all elements of "Just not [your] kind of writing" which are often regarded as technical errors. I'm sure I'm guilty of doing this in reviews as well as recieving said criticism, but it's irksome, none the less. I try not to be snobbish and just assume that I'm above criticism. . . but sometimes it actually -is- reader/reviewer error. . . and that's frustrating when it costs you points. It makes me feel like I have to write a very specific way if I want to grab the most points; like I can't be as eccentric as I might if it wasn't a competition. But then, such is the nature of competition. Gotta play by the rules.

That is a very fair point Zovo.

I hope I am not really busy and can find time. I am kind of excited to do this.

Agreed with Zovo here! Some writers don't want to include all the details you guys want ... because the story isn't about the details! Its about the other bits I hope I am not really busy and can find time. I am kind of excited to do this. *Poke* New Flash assignment topic, please!

Not to bash on him when he's not here, but that's why Tam's reviews use to infuriate me.
