Right. As the Time Lords amongst us might have noticed (oh, just me? Sorry). 11:59PM Christmas Eve EST is actually 6pm Christmas Day for me. Now usually by that time we've all eaten dinner, watched the Queen, watched a film and have gone by to individual things in my household before the evening kicks things back into sway. So I'm hoping I'll be able to get my judging done on time like usual.
However it might be something that will have to wait till Boxing Day. Since this is the last round that isn't too much of a problem though. Just thought I'd give you guys the warning.

I don't think I'll get something done. I have no ideas, it's Christmas Eve, I'm busy, and it's not like I can really make a huge epic comeback. It wouldn't even be really beneficial to my writing, it would be a rush job.

Oh yay! I was worried about this one. I had to write it so fast that I wasn't positive that I had correctly conveyed my story. I just ran out of time. I even told my hubby he couldn't read it yet because I had to go back and fix it. Plus when I told him it was an alternative history of John Smith a la going into the land of the dead...well he just looked at me for a second kind of strange. But then being the sweetie that he is he said "Well, that's original. I must read this!"

Congrats folks! Also, dayum Silv  Tied all the way. You were a worthy opponent. Now that I look back on the story, it does sag a little in the middle. I should have put more effort into the panic going on elsewhere and John's frustration and urgency. I wanted to dash straight out of typical boat on water paragraph (because it could have been terrible cliched) and sci-fi seemed a good way to go - so yeah, grabbed it and ran with it. Struggled at first due to my own hold-ups but ended up with something I quite like. Definitely saving this one for later ... Thanks for being nice Agro :] |

What a good competition. This thing pretty much singlehandedly got me writing again, and hey, I managed to win in the process. A 'congrats' and 'good game' to everyone who participated, particularly those of you who submitted something round in and round out.  |
