are writers who are writing against eachother going to be using the same beginnings?
Like if I'm writing against Kaez, will you send us both; "It was a dark and stormy night. . ." Or will he get that and I'll get; "Call me Ishmael. . .

Ok, if we can get another 2-4 writers that would be excellent.
Now, on the matter of the reviews and voting, is that going to be done in secret or public. Either:
A: After the deadline, I post the two entries in the match thread. Everyone then sends me their reviews and votes. Then I send the reviews to the writers and whether they progress to the next round or not. The reviews and votes are then posted in each of the match threads at the end of the competition.
B: After the deadline, I post the two entries in the match thread. Then everyone review the entries and post their reviews within the thread. Then they send their vote to me by PM and I tell the writers whether they have progressed or not.
C: After the deadline, I post the two entries in the match thread. Then everyone post their reviews and vote in the match thread.
Thoughts?

B and C would make it pretty easy to figure out who the writer's are because they'd be the ones -not- voting or reviewing (since everyone seems to think voting and reviewing your own is a bad idea).
Could always do D: After the deadline you post the entries in the match thread, reviews are sent to you, you post the reviews anonymously and PM the writers whether or not they will be advancing.
That way everyone can read the reviews without revealing who wrote them or how they voted, and who didn't review/vote. Of course that's alot of extra work for you. I guess it's alot like "A" except it's a little more "real time."
Doesn't really matter to me, it's your show. Just throwing that out there.

Yeah, I was pretty sure that D was the plan. People send votes and reviews to you via PM, you post the reviews for everyone to see and announce the winner (I wouldn't even post how many votes either of them won by, that's just another form of bias that we're trying to avoid in this anonymous style) and PM the people saying 'you won, here's the next beginning' or 'you lost, sorry'.
