True, but that only means you have a huge, ravenous zombie that can sprint at the speed of a horse over short distance barreling down on you. Taking the time to aim for the head... probably not gonna happen. Running away while it's distracted is more reasonable and realistic, though not exactly the heroic thing to do. Bears have big heads, and he'd have plenty of time to aim. It'd be kinda...distracted.

Eating little Johnny's lung, yeah, I guess he would.

I'm not saying there's no risk to it, the bear just isn't all that worrysome out of all the things that could happen.

MOAR CHOICES
1: Park outside of the shopping mall and walk in to gather any supplies The Protagonist would need. (Specify just where he should go - should he look for food, clothing, weapons?) Risk losing car to zombies or desperate escapees.
2: Drive through the windows, risking damage to the car and self and possibly hitting other survivors trying to hole themselves up within - but ensuring that he wouldn't lose the car to thieves or a sudden zombie attack and giving the good chance of an easy escape.
3: Get out of the car and take off into the park, leaving only a block of city ground he'd have to get through but a possibly even more dangerous area to traverse.
4: Turn around and just go on a less anarchic road. No time to stick around; even though the supplies the city offers might not be seen again, he's better off with what he has than risking having nothing.

The same 'specification' thing goes for 2, just like it does for 1, by the way.
Which shops should he go to, what should he look for, etc. Weapons, clothing, food, some other sort of supplies?

And if you're wondering, the 'chaotic' road goes about the same distance as the park does, leaving a block of normal The City to traverse.

Option 2 - Driving through glass shouldn't damage the car or us, we should be safe in that respect. We do run the risk of hitting someone...but we kinda of already shown a disregard for other lives. Once inside, since it's spacious, we can drive and be better protected. If we do get stuck, then we can just grab the back pack and get out. Pretty much making Option 1 obsolete. If we go for this one, we're probably good for food, although if we can grab more that would be fine. I think we should look for a little more firepower.
Option 3 - Just too dangerous, I reckon. We have a pistol, limited ammo and we know that there's some rabid creatures out there.
Option 4 - Probably the safest, but we're also heading out into the wilderness with only the bare supplies.

Oh let's see...
1 or 2 for me. It would be kinda circumstance in that regard though.
It all depends on whether you can get into the mall or not. If it's easy to get in, then I'd pick 1. But, if there are people in there and they have the place hold up, I'm gonna choose personal survival over theirs.
Car through the door, through their barricades and let them deal with onrushing zombies whilst I raid all the good shit and weps
Oh... weapons and food. In that order. You might meet zombies in the supermarket and you don't need one snacking on your shoulder while perusing the frozen food section.
... Ever have that happen? Pain right in the ass!
I'm just in there getting a microwave pizza and all of sudden I got a zombie nibbling on my arm. That's why I carry a machete with me whenever I go shopping... in case of market zombies.

2, I think. We've already decided this fellow's morals (or lack thereof) and, like James said, if something does happen to the car, we just end up in the position of option 1.
2 and go for food, then weapons?

Keep in mind that I only specified there being a gun shop, awesome and massive though it may be.
You likely won't find much in the way of melee weapons. There might be a sword shop or something along those lines somewhere in the mall, but there also might not be. In fact, that'd be borderline weird.
Makeshift weapons, however, i.e. a shovel might not be so hard to find. But then, you've already got a crowbar and a tire iron so you might not even care.

You could basically use anything as a melee weapon. If there's a sporting goods store, you could go grab a baseball bat or golf club. A hardware store would have all sorts of tools to use as weapons. I wouldn't be worried about a melee weapon. Just pick something up that feels good in the hand and has some heft to it and you got yourself a zombie bludgeoning instrument of death.
