I'd also keep in mind Soaps' own state of mind, if I were you. A guilty conscience is just more baggage to wear him down in an already extremely stressful environment. He's an ex-military man though. If he's killed someone in combat, then the thought of destroying a family somewhere must have crossed his mind.

Well, I didn't say he's -going- to be guilty about it.
But he might be. Just keep it in mind while ya be votin'.

Hm...
On one hand, by saving the family you could get some allies and more supplies. But there would be more people to have to share things like food with...
Not to mention, if it comes down to it and your in deep trouble and you need help, the family could and probably would abandon you...
Also the chance that one, some, or all of the family are infected or they could try and kill you after you save them. So...
Vote - Option 2

Voting 2.
Because he clearly doesn't want to be a hero.

I ain't gonna fight a zombie bear!
I'd rather drive by and yell "Tough luck bitches!" as I passed.
...
Besides... I don't think I'd have any weapons strong enough to put a regular bear down instead of a zombie bear.
so I guess that means 2

He's got a .44 magnum. A couple of shots to the head would take it down.

He's got a .44 magnum. A couple of shots to the head would take it down. True. But can he hit the head? There's a reason the military teaches their soldiers to shoot for the center of mass.

As we know from Warcraft, bears are notorious...for not having heads.

Regardless, it's pretty clear that option 2 is the winner here.

True, but that only means you have a huge, ravenous zombie that can sprint at the speed of a horse over short distance barreling down on you. Taking the time to aim for the head... probably not gonna happen. Running away while it's distracted is more reasonable and realistic, though not exactly the heroic thing to do.
