Yeah, that would involve getting our search to work for once.

I know I've asked this before, and it's probably been answered multiple times anyways...
But I was wondering, what would be better to do first, the cultures, or the history? Or a bit of both?

Kind of depends. I prefer starting out with an -idea- above anything else. Basically the rough style and tone of things that I want. Other than that, yeah, history is a good place to start. But of course, if there's some idea of a culture you really dig, you can set up your history to be perfectly tuned to eventually lead to that culture. More organically, though, you let the history go wherever it naturally goes, and culture develop however it naturally develops. I recommend a good World History book at your side.

I have an idea of the kinds of cultures I want at the time my story takes place, I guess I just need to figure out how they get there. And yeah, I suppose reading up on history would be really helpful. Hmm.

You definitely don't want to work completely backwards. Basically, set yourself a series of checkpoints that you want to reach, and work your way through them chronologically. But yeah, knowing what makes civilizations develop in certain ways is a big part of organic development and a real-looking world.

The next level of zoom. That makes each square 50 square miles. ... yes, it looks all weird in the middle. They're two separate pieces of paper and they're not -perfectly- aligned. But the graphs are perfectly aligned! At the moment, I'm working on what will be, far and away, my grandest map. It's going to be of the full two continents, in color, with all the details... everything. Look forward to it.

I altered the sizes to make it more manageable. The first map is now 200m x 200m, the second (just the main continent) is now 100x100, and the main zoom (above post) is 50m x 50m. So, for a reference to the new size, it's basically Europe. ALSO! New pretty map.

It's going to be a rather small world then, or are you just focusing on two continents?

It's going to be a rather small world then, or are you just focusing on two continents? If you look back a few pages, you'll see the full world -- there's another continent about the same size as this one, and both the arctic and antarctic continents are much larger than our own. So yeah, it's smaller than earth in overall landmass, but not by -tons-.
