I decided to create a sketch for my own world. Just a little project and I'll build upon it. Until I get better with Artpad though or something else there won't be any map for this universe. But it is practically not needed because... Well... There already is a map for it. Thousands in fact. But this is separate from everything on the map.
---History of the Planet Terra---
Several thousand years ago the humans of Terra lived in paradise like gods. They built great machines and powerful devices that allowed them to live in luxury. Magic and Technology was virtually indistinguishable relatively to what we experience today. It seemed back then that nothing would stop them from reaching out and plucking the stars from their nesting grounds. Unfortunately something would happen to bring them to the level they are now.
A wise man created a special serum to cure people of what was thought to be the incurable disease. It worked but for some unknown reason reacted violently to one of the patients in medical records. The patient was buried but the pestilence somehow spread to the place of healing and the zone in which it was buried. The new disease originated from this man and was quickly spread throughout the community. It caused them to become the living dead and it continued to spread and multiply.
Soldiers of the mightiest nation in the world fought against the zombies pushing them into a secured zone. Unfortunately it was not enough and the wisest men of the world decided to use their magic to create special races that would destroy the zombies. The operation was a success and a wall was slowly built around the area to prevent it from spreading while the soldiers did battle. The wall was soon finished and it was expected that the zombies would soon die out. It was not the case but one of the new races known as the Orcs a violent and brutal race bred for war turned on their masters. A great cataclysm was caused. Flashing light appeared around the world before long smoky waves turned flesh into ash.
This devastation on a world scale happened for a long time and the humans sealed themselves away underground. After a long thousand years the humans left the underground places of the world but most of the knowledge of humanity was lost. All the great magic and power gone and hidden in the deepest darkest places of the world. When they emerged they found the devastated world had regrown. Tropical Forests were abundant in many places of the world were they had been harvested. The humans also found the super races that they had created leaving behind. Many of them had established thriving communities but many were also hostile. Only a few people knew of the old ways a millennium before and had been preserved in stasis chambers. Almost all of them were insane as the magic had tampered with their minds as is believed by many scholars of this age.
It seems unlikely humanity will ever rise to its former state now with strange, fickle and barbarous creatures surrounding them on all sides. But it is hoped that humanity will rid the world of one menace and mistake of the past year after year.
All the information seen above has been compiled at the Great Library of Switzerland by Librarian Schnick Shnowski.
The Year at Date is Estimated to be 6789 AD according to Ancient Records of year 3458 AD. Praise the Emperor!

The Races of this World:
There are many strange creatures that inhabit this world. It is my responsibility to detail the great races humanity left behind and humanity itself.
Humanity:
Humanity was once the leading race of the world. Able to control the tides, the winds and even the sun itself. Only a few ancient relics have been recovered since the time and most of these pieces detail nothing important at all. But there are some treasured pieces that are important enough to warrant our attention. Some could change the way we live.
A few expeditions have been made to the land of Amerika by many human nations which was believed to be the home place of one of the most powerful nations of the planet. Most have turned out nothing but some have been able to give insight on how they lived. Only a few humans have been found alive in this place and it is believed to be the place were the most devastation occurred. Only one scientist has been acquired from ancient times still in a stasis pod branded K-374. It is unknown whether he is alive or how exactly to open the pod. It requires a key of some sort and it will take many thousands maybe millions of years to open. If we could open it without killing him we would be able to strike down our enemies with ease.
Anyway enough on humanity in general. Lets talk about the nations left behind.
Imperial Gothic Empire of Switzerland
The Imperial Gothic Empire of Switzerland or in short the Empire of Switzerland is the greatest and most populous of the human nations left standing. Its primary language is English but it appears that our ancestors spoke Swiss. It is ruled by a long dynasty of great Emperors who have each been able to ward off the dangers of the world.
Our land stretches west from Germanik to Russie and north from Denmark to Greece and Italy. It is believed many fled from all over the world to this place as they were bombarded. Switzerland is the home of great and powerful banks many of which history is unknown because some actually have histories extending into ancient times. Two great and powerful competing banks are UBS and Kredit Swissy.
It is not unknown for the two banks to become violent when acting against each other. Certain accountants have been known to turn up at work dying only a few seconds before work actually begins. One war has occurred between the two banks but the Emperor has implemented security measures to minimize such wars and prevent collateral damage. It has worked but still a war unknown to the common public goes on.
The Emperors have led us through the world age after age but their names are never known. Rarely do they appear in public and when they do it is only ever during their crowning ceremony or during actual war. The few that did appear in public commonly seemed to turn up dead and replaced by a brother, son or even sister and daughter. Never has the line been replaced by uncles, aunts or relations more distant than siblings or children as it is against the law of the Empire. The loyal guards will not allow it and a very direct bloodline must be maintained. It is believed by some that the Emperors and Empresses may have ancestors who were super races but such suggestions are suppressed and those who speculate are killed on the spot.
The Empire is friendly with the distant Himalayan dwarves and Amerikan elves but is less so to other human nations who it sees as rivaling powers. The Kingdom of Britannia it sees sometimes as a rival but sometimes as an ally against the darker things of the world. The Thieves Nation of Araby however it outright hates and will rarely have anything to do with it. That does not prevent it however from doing secret trading between the inhabitants of both nations under the table without the authorities eyes watching.
((I hope this is good. Gonna do more. Anyone think this is good?))

Ya, Matrix: Revolutions. Smith yells it near the end.
Anyway, it's pretty cool Night (although the name "Swissieland" sounds pretty lame). My one problem is that you seem kind of all over the map; like you're trying to fit a whole bunch of ideas into one world. You've got ancient technology, you've got magic, you've got zombies, you've got orcs, you've got Armageddon, you've got humans in stasis. It's a little ... busy. Still very cool, though. And if you used it in a story the "busyness" might be a non-issue as it won't be revealed all at once, presumably.

That was just split second thinking to name it that. And the theme. I didn't want it to be plain High Fantasy. I wanted it to be High Fantasy with Sci-Fi Past. Magic... Was a way of explaining Technology. What I wanted to do was get many many races into Earth but I didn't know how to go about doing it when keeping with the current time line. So I decided to create a great enemy (Zombies) and the humans would genetically engineer themselves (As considered in the thread) to wipe out the Zombies. I wanted to keep the Zombies though along with all the other races but not have them wipe out humans. So I did the classic Armageddon and they all went underground. Humans pop up again and we have all these creatures around. Now why didn't I choose to just do a normal High Fantasy? Simple. So I could have the humans with an Epic quest to go looking around trying to find a scrap of the past. I wanted to create a lot of ambiguity. I'll try to add some more about the other races and human kingdoms soon.

The Kingdom of Britannica
This is the opposing Kingdom of the Switzerland Empire. Their domain stretches from the Northern Barbarian lands of Skottland through Britannica down to Italy and west to Spain. They sometimes fight against the Switzerland Empire but at most times are at relative peace and may make an occasional alliance to fight Orc and Ogre incursions or worse. They don't have much contact with these race though. Nor do they have much contact with the human Nation of Araby with only a few traders ever coming to and from the region. Most of the goods sold in the Kingdom from the region are expensive. Sometimes fake clues to human history are sold for exhorbitant prices before the traders run back to their nation to hide.
The Kingdom is ruled by a King and a council of nine Knights. The King has equal power to the knights but is the one who is chosen to read out their decisions. To become a Knight one must pass a series of physical and mental challenges until they are deemed worthy. Once worthy they are given a small sample of land and a handful of peasants. By improving their reputation within the Kingdoms they may be given more land by the council and peasants to work it.
Their greatest buildings are of stone but their small homesteads are made with thatch roofs and wooden walls. Those not able to become Knights are the peasants and their life is a cruel one. Very few survive past the age of 50 without being afflicted by disease that kills them. Those that do survive disease will be beaten when they tire from work around that age and die anyway.
The Kingdom is surrounded with poverty but its Knights are noble, rich and powerful. It has a very capable military and workforce but it is on the lowest tiers that rot is taking hold of the kingdom that threatens to undermine this status. Thieves are slowly growing in number. Rumours are held that some of the Knights have armed themselves with special ancient weapons to protect themselves. Where they were found is indeed a mystery. The Empire of Switzerland has tried to bargain with them for this technology hearing the rumours but the Kingdom has denied possessing any weapons.
The Kingdom is also allied with the Elves across the Ocean at Amerika who it sees as friends but due to the distance the dwarves of the Himalayas are from Britannica there is little to no contact.
Nation of Araby
Araby stretches from the land once known as Saudee Araby up to Turkey and all the way to the west coast of Afrika. It is the largest of the human nations but is also one of the weakest in terms of actual military strength and numbers. It is constantly engaged in warfare with Orcs nears Saudee Araby and is now having troubles with Ogres in Afrika.
The Nation of Araby although many would say is merely a land of scum is by far the wealthiest of the human nations. It has become so wealthy because of its illegal dealings, thefts, assassinations and also through hording. Its treasury holds a large amount of gold all stolen and swindled. They have varying technology as they will take anything they can get their greedy hands on.
The nation's government is a very structured hierarchy. Its titles from top down are Trade Sultan, Mogul, Principality Baron, Lord, Slaver, Merchant, Common Worker and finally a Slave. There are however many crime lords who are associated with Moguls and the Trade Sultan and their place is somewhere around that point in the hierarchy. Unlike most crime lords in the world these ones will swindle from travelers and deliver a small percentage of gold to the leaders so they gain protection. The same goes for Slavers and some merchants selling fake goods. Through this manner the government has become powerful and so have the criminals.
The thing that draws people to this land are the low tithes or even tithe free land in Araby. It is almost like a fly to a venus fly trap. All travelers wanting their dreams to be achieved going to Araby usually come back with less money in their pockets than when they arrived. For this reason some wars have been initiated between the Empire of Switzerland and even the more distant Kingdom of Britannica.
Its relations with the Dwarves very far to the east in the Himalayas however are very good and they commonly trade goods with no swindles occurring at all in most years. Those who do swindle them are put out of business by the Trade Sultan in an effort to maintain good relations with them and to acquire precious metals in their mines deep below the earth. It is a long route to take but it is commonly done by ship to avoid crossing through Orc lands.
Their relations with the Amerikan Elves however are not so good and are very strained due to their bad nature. For this reason they don't have much contact at all with them.

How much is to much? This is my first try and I have a million more ideas. I don't want it to be overflowing with it but I would like a rich lore background to it.
