During the last Inklings we discussed AWR doing a collaborative project, and the podcast in particular. The general feeling was that we should organise a writers' room on Skype to discuss the project before making any firm decisions.
What we did talk about, though, what form the podcast should take. I think most people were reasonably happy with the Generation Ship setting, although maybe no longer with the newscaster framing device (perhaps Welcome to Night Vale similarities has dated). What Sensar very sensibly suggested is that we should look at just writing a Pilot, before attempting anything longer (like a serial).
The other issue is that I think there were a split between exactly how far AWR should take the project. Liam knows people who could produce something if we end up writing a decent script. I think Pete and I are far more interested in that idea, of writing scripts and then getting other people to make them a reality. On the other hand, I know there are other people who would really love to do the production ourselves and give voice acting a shot. So we need to figure that out.
So... we need to come up with a date for AWR's first writers' room. And at that writers' room, we need to focus on: the idea/premise (do we stick with the Generation Ship? What framing device?), and the plot for a one-off Pilot to see how we go.

James, why don't you tell us when you'll be free. Because you're one of the busiest members at the moment.

I mean, my time is reasonably fluid. The issue is more -how long- the session will take, rather than when. I can carve out an hour easily enough, I think (except when I'm at work). But if we want a 2-3 hours long session, then I'm gonna struggle to find that time until March (hence also the not being able to do the RPG).

I feel like talking about this more than an hour at a time will just cause things to spiral into off-topic discussions. If you stick to one hour planning meetings, a firm deadline, then you may be able to keep to an agenda and be more focused.

Yeah, to build on this I'd say figure out who is on board with any particular piece of it and set up a Skype chat involving -just- those people, or you're never gonna get anywhere. That said, I'm interested in participating, but I'm not certain where best to apply myself, so if you guys see a place where you think my input might be valuable, let me know. Otherwise, don't feel obligated to include me.
