Note on times: All times are in US-EST, and the common deadline will be 3am EST. That's 2am CST, 1am MST, 12am PST, 9pm New Zealand, and 8am GMT. It's also 10pm on -the day prior- for Hawaii.
January 10 - January 17
Eight writers will write the entries for the first round. There will be two matches of four writers each. Introductions will be sent out on January 10 at 3am EST, and the deadline will close at 3am EST on January 17. All entries must be received by that time. So that means you get a Sunday to start the round and a Saturday to finish it. PM entries to the organiser, do -not- post them.
Notes on introductions: Introductions will be story passages of 75 to 250 words, which cannot be altered and must be used as the beginning of an entry. These will be PM'd to the writers, and then posted in a thread. There is no limit to the length of pieces, although 5,000 is regarded as a "soft limit".
January 17 - January 20
Reviews will be open from January 17 at 3am EST to January 20 at 3am EST. To vote for stories, you will send one PM to the organiser, containing all reviews and votes you are making for this round, any time you have finished reviewing (you don't have to review them all, if you don't want to) and before January 20 at 3am EST.
Note on reviews and votes: You must review a story to vote for it. You cannot vote for your own match. Votes are to be made in a ranking manner. You rank all the stories, from first to bottom.
January 20
At 3am on January 20, voting will close. During that day the entries and reviews will all be posted by the organiser in their corresponding threads. In the event of a tie, a psychic snail will make the conclusive vote. If one is unavailable, a judgement call will be made by the organiser as the tiebreaker.
January 20 - January 27
The winners of the first two matches get a rest week. Round two begins when introductions are PM'd to the remaining six writers at 3am EST on January 20. Writing will take place through to January 27 at 3am EST. PM entries to the organisers, do -not- post them.
