Don't ask about the 5 letter word thing, I'm not sure what I meant by that. I wrote this when I was about 10, and just recently dug it up on my computer. Figured I'd put it here, for no reason. Remember, I wrote this nearly 4 years ago, so go easy on me.
Chapter 1: F is for Flying
Liftoff in 5… 4… 3… 2… 1. Nothing. That is only thing Kevin can’t hear as the loudspeaker begins to hiss. He looks to his left… Jacob, Kevin’s brother, is gone. Instead there is only black space. To Kevin’s right is the window, out of which, Kevin can no longer see a sunny peaceful afternoon. Instead, it seems there is an orange glow surrounding the plane. Kevin hears screaming… no he doesn’t hear screaming, that’s him. Why is he screaming he asks himself, yet he goes on screaming. Then, there is nothing.
Hours later, sitting on a couch, are Kevin’s parents, who were expecting a visit. The father, Harold, is quietly sobbing. Sarah, the wife, is crying, her face buried in her hands. On the television a man is reporting a Dallas Texas, a sad look upon his face. Behind him, there is nothing but destruction. The volume on the T.V. is up just loud enough to hear the words: At 10:00 this morning, the local airport was bombed. It seems that there were no survivors. Nothing… it is such a small word, and yet it means absolute zero. That is what might’ve survived the crash… absolutely nothing.
Chapter 2: E is for Emptiness
Why… why did Kevin need to live? It wasn’t fair. The bombing at the airport had been one of many, within days nearly all of America had been destroyed. The President was dead, the Vice President had no idea what was going on, and life had gone to hell. Kevin didn’t know how he survived, but wished he hadn’t. It had taken him hours to simply get away from the explosion. He saw the newsmen and called for help, but his cries went unheard. In another few hours he managed to stand up and walk himself to a hospital. Thank god there was one nearby… no, not thank god. God would never have let this happen in the first place. Kevin was merely thankful he never gave up, no matter how much he wanted to. At the hospital cloth was placed around Kevin’s face, which had been burned away. Nobody could stand to look at him.
The hospital… it was on fire. Kevin limped into his wheel chair. He had been staying there for days now, without being able to contact his family. Kevin’s mouth had been burned shut… that was why he couldn’t yell for help. Still, he’d been able to hear the news and he knew that he likely had no family to contact anyways. He wheeled himself to an elevator, which had unfortunately been shut down because of the fire. The stairs were his only choice. Falling out of his wheelchair and rolling down the stairs was the easy part… surviving was another matter entirely. Kevin survived, yet again. The hospital was gone. Kevin now laid on the ground a mile or so away, hardly breathing. Kevin was alone, terrified, and… not so alone. Kevin heard footsteps… and then… nothing.
Ok... thats it. Maybe I'll finish this sooner or later, depends on what you guys think... so yeah. I realize the idea of Kevin having lived through an explosion and then being able to crawl away is a bit un-realistic... but w/e
