Would anybody object to this year posting the introductions to the threads themselves and PM'ing people the round they will be in? Similar to what was done with the Thunderdome match? Might add an extra layer of gamesmanship, and if nothing else would allow you guys to gossip over the various openings. I'd love to see the other starters. Mine is...interesting. Yeah, I say post 'em.

I think that works. Blood can just be giving Taed 2.0's beginning.

On the one hand I feel like writing something non-fantastical is something I should be practicing more of ... but on the other hand it feels like ages since I've written any good sci-fi,and I want to have some fun.
Shameless genre shoehorn incoming.

Intros are posted in their respective threads.
Upcoming Conference matches will be Austerlitz, Hastings, and Leyte Gulf.

Think I have a suspicion on who wrote my starter. Have an idea but no idea what to do with said idea! Ack!

I actually wrote a quick Python program to randomly seed the match ups. We got a couple of what I think are good ones.
You guys should also make a point to knock Pete out now, because I'm using one of his intros as the Thunderdome starter come hell or high water.

I am so out of my depth. I'd feel so much more comfortable sitting on the steps in the kiddy pool.

While not unhappy with my beginning, I must stop procrastinating. No more pushing it to the last minute, minimal-editing for me, no sir. [Cue procrastination for five days.]

Oh man, there is one I am very glad I didn't get. I have a kernel of an idea forming but my competitor is far from doomed.

I think you used my easiest and my hardest starters this first round, actually. But I know which one you're talking about. That'll make an awesome thunderdome.

He'll get bored and drop out long before that.

I'm definitely writing the first round. I'm sick in bed, stuck in Boston. There's not a goddamn thing else for me to do.
As for my beginning: I could take it or leave it. There's not really any that stand out as one I'd rather have than this one. It'll do.
