Sure, the length was -fine-. But the story would have been better if it was longer. I fear you've trapped yourself in a flash fiction hole. GET OUT OF YOUR HOLES, PEOPLE! Quoting House. I haven't done that for quite a long tim- wait. I did the anti-semantic line about two hours ago.Just spotted what you did! I said a nice thing to Kaez and thanked him for the review. You arse! You just didn't want him seeing my thanks, didn't you? {Edit: also, probably am in a hole but I like this hole and I'm good at brevity and I don't want to mush on about stuff that isn't important to the story.} AW! Well, hey, you're welcome, Ref. Anyway, Sekot: you can't get negative points, comprende? Even a shitty, shitty piece is going to get you a handful of points which is going to help you in the competition. Play the game.

Awesome Silv! Felt pretty epic. Perhaps like an intro to a game? *Shrug* Just been in a cosmic horror/Old Gods type mindset for a bit and decided to go with that. Wasn't thinking of much beyond 'Does this go with thirst?' XD

So what's the rule for late entrants that missed the first round, but want to come in just for the sake of wanting to practice writing?

So what's the rule for late entrants that missed the first round, but want to come in just for the sake of wanting to practice writing? You don't have to write in any given round. You can drop in and drop out whenever. Most people won't write for every single one.

Would a zombie count as a non-human protagonist?

Hehe, a comedy about a zombie slowly drying out and crumbling because he only hungers but never thirsts would be funny. Too bad I didn't think of that sooner.

It looks like you won't have a lot to read, Pete. Mine is the longest story at the moment and it's only 800 words long.

Much better idea than what I did.
