I endorse Zovo's suggestions for Perfectworld3 and R.E.D.
I'm playing on a map that has proper jungles and deserts with rivers that are actually rivers.

I endorse Zovo's suggestions for Perfectworld3 and R.E.D. I'm playing on a map that has proper jungles and deserts with rivers that are actually rivers. Oh, man, jungles. Take a while to get 'em going and make 'em useful, but later in the game jungle tiles are so OP. My central most city is surrounded by tons of jungle tiles, each one worth 2 food, 2-3 gold, 2 science, and 1 culture. Not to mention slowing the approach of enemy units. Ridiculous. I usually chop everything and just build farms like hell, I've completely re-evaluated my stance on jungle tiles.

I still have this thing in my mind from CivIV that keeps telling me that jungles are evil.

I still have this thing in my mind from CivIV that keeps telling me that jungles are evil. University makes them worth it. Like I said, takes forever to make a jungle laden city into something grand ('cause your production values are just terrible, so you gotta dump gold into 'em), but the payoff is worth it.

It's easier to found a jungle city later in the game when you've got a few other cities to sustain it. Quite tricky to -start- there.

If you can get a starting city that is right on the edge of jungle with hills and such on the non-jungle hexes, you're god damned golden.

Got my first Spaceship victory last night. Woot! All I need now is a UN victory and I'll have done them all. That probably means I have to play nice with all the rest of the kids though.

Jesus Christ! I'm playing as Arabia and I'm besieging Constantinople because it is surrounded by gems and gold and is filthy rich, but it is insanely defended. Anything, literally anything, that ends the turn in range of the city is destroyed from full health. I'm having to slowly wear away at the defences with my camel archers darting in and out.

Just had my first ever U.N. victory. Shortest game I've played so far; a mere ten hours and forty-three minutes on Marathon finishing in the year 1943. Most notable acheivement... Not a single armed conflict with anyone other than the occassional barbarian. Never declared war, never had war declared upon me. Ultimately a rather satisfying play-through.
