And thank you very much, Lilam and Ref - I was beginning to wonder if anyone would get around to judging those! XD
I do appreciate the comments too - and you're both right, it is the beginning of a chapter, for an ongoing story. I just didn't think with my reputation for super long stories, it'd be wise to try to fit it all in, but... hmmm... XD But at least I got the chance to fix it from what it started out as, developed a couple new characters as well, and I'm very happy that you liked the descriptions/setting/pace. Dark fantasy is probably my favorite genre to write.
And sorry about all the French, Lilam. I tried to fit it in where I thought the language would flow with the context of the English around the phrases - the only exception being "Mais bien sur" - but apparently I need to relook those portions. >.>

If I see a word or phrase I don't know (in English or otherwise), I immediately have to look it up, regardless if I get the gist in context. I just like knowing exactly what I'm reading, I guess? The story was still good even with me consulting a translating site, so no worries. Probably just me being weird.  |
