I dunno how, but I was driving home from work two nights ago at moonrise and the moon was perfectly round and clear and yellow on the horizon so I started thinking of something pretty to say about it.
----
Dear old Moon, we meet again! My midnight guardian, my silent friend. Your round white face is lovely tonight, Casting the clouds in ethereal light. The stars, they are dainty, As they dance 'round your head. And I watch as your moonbeam Slowly ghosts down my bed. That same silver beam, I know, enshrouds the land, All still and all silent, calmed by your hand. I drift off to dream, lulled by your light, Thankful you smiled down at me tonight.
