Alright ... now I'm scared. Showed the story (in editing stage) to a friend, admittedly a young friend. He didn't make it half way through the story before saying he couldn't read on. He felt he was too young, and the story too savage and animal-like. The past pieces scared him too much. Oh crap - so out of my comfort zone! *PANIC!* Now I'm scared I went too far, or made it too vivid, or too violent. Want to go back to writing Young Adult or Children stuff now, please and thank you! (ps. Thank you Zovo  That wiki-link mostly confused me, but I think I got the gist, and I think my story has enough of that "feeling provoking" stuff.) |

Think I'm still going to use it - it is still an amazing piece, I think. Not deleting it. Just scared right now of what I have made.
Got a friend looking it over now. He is an erotic-writer, and has seen it all. He should be able to tell me if its too vivid or animal-like. He should be able to make it to the end of the story, and not get scared.

If you're scaring a younger person something tells me you're on the right track, Reffy. Scaring people is a whole new thing to me. Completely not used to actually scaring people with my writing. Usually I just want them to smile or float away to a new Fantasy-World. So scaring the friend really upset me, and provided a whole bunch of self-doubt. (Damn you self-doubt!) Erotic-writer hasn't got back to me yet, but NotAlice has seen it. She liked it. I've also read a few paragraphs to hubby and he said the judges would get "boners" >.< But those were paragraphs and not in the whole context. Both of them think I should go with it. Worse that can happen is I lose. Still got the experience Doubt its actually going to scare anybody here. I mean ... ya'll have seen some fucked up shit. It's just me being mega-nervous about the reaction to it, considering I've only created smiles before. |

Kinda want her to post first, so I can judge my own piece by it  If I post first she has the rest of the week to make it better than mine. Never been "head to head" with another writer before! |
