Thanks. This is actually the start of a story. I started it five different ways and I think this is the one I'm going with. I'm shooting for descriptive but not overly purple. If it feels like poetry then I think I'm close to what I'm going for.

If I Were Summer

I'd strip the layers you hide within
Until my light could kiss your skin
Leave you colored by my touch
Hot and blushing from the rush
My cream would melt upon your tongue
Easing the fever of blazing sun
I'd crash upon your shore in waves
Leave you spent and dizzy from my haze
Fill your sky with fiery bloom
Blinding your eyes with flash and boom
Race your days with coaster rides
And spark your nights with fireflies
I'd swell your memories with wonder
This I'd do if I were Summer

Ouroboros

I am ill from knowing

your realities close in

and none of them are mine

my hope for your redemption

is writhing from your acid

I’ve the left the circle

swallow your own tale

Wrote this one a year ago. Interesting to see where I was then versus now. It's put to the rhythm of a psycho-billy type song and plays on the dual meaning of possession.

Possession

Already on my knees
So here’s a confession
At first I liked it
When I was your obsession
When you filled my ears
With your lovely lies
Meant to bind my heart
And blind my eyes

Wish I had known
Before I let you in
That you could break
The parts that wouldn’t bend
Better learn from this lesson

Felt the rush when you
Said “You’re mine.”
Felt the chills
Running up my spine
Made me believe that
I’d found the one
Your spell was woven
The trap was sprung

Wish I had known
Before I let you in
That just one push
Could set the wheel to spin
Blur the lines and keep me guessing

The first time there was
A shock of pain
I felt your storm
Pummeling like rain
And in the calm
You said, “Never again.”
But that was just to numb me
To the chains

Wish I had known
Before I let you in
That love could turn
Into a blunt weapon
The instrument of my oppression

You left me hollow
A broken shell
Marred my skin
With memories of your hell
But in the darkness
I found the will
To shed the veil you used
To keep me still

And now I know
As I begin
I have the strength
To bring this to an end
For I am no one’s possession

Poasting to say: I read this and I liked it. It felt all fierce and angry but the words were of love and dizziness. It was a strange mix. A bit like fusion cooking: chocolate with caviar.
