Shoot, had a weird/neat dream last night that inspired me. Have another idea for a novel... Thank God its only the 8th of October...

Here comes the synopsis.

Hank Jackson is a 27-year-old guy with it all. A Yale degree, a decent job working as Editor-in-Chief for a small-town newspaper, and, most importantly, his delightful fiance and love of his life, Meg.

But all that changed when he went to a Little League baseball game. First, Hank chips his tooth on a piece of metal in a ballpark hotdog. Then, his day gets even more bizarre when he saves the man in front of him from choking on a soft pretzel. The eccentric man, identifying himself as the German scientist Dr. Finn Grubbler, invites Hank over for tea as a recompense for saving his life. Hank agrees.

But first Hank goes to the dentist to the dentist, to get a professional opinion on the damage to his tooth. There, Hank ends up passionately kissing Dental Hygienist Olivia Burke; which brings a quick end to his engagement with Meg.

Dejected and heartbroken, Hank attends tea time with Dr. Grubbler. But Dr. Grubbler has a secret; a secret that could change the course of history, and, more significantly, allow Hank to redeem himself and win back Meg. Grubbler, you see, has a time machine; a time machine he is more than willing to let Hank use... Grubbler just needs a test subject to iron out the kinks first...

This one would be a bit more whimsical than my other idea (which I'm still interested in, but not sure if it's got enough sustaining power to keep me going for 30 days and 50k words.) The story would be your basic "hero's quest", involving Hank going throughout time, collecting artifacts and changing events for Grubbler (who, as the reader will come to see, puts the "mad" in "mad scientist.")

Traitor!? I'm just going to use NaNo as a reason to bloody well get on with it and stop procrastinating.

I'm using most of the ideas you threw at me anyway! Bigger, bad-er, darker. Trust me - you will like the ideas I had! It'll just be a bit longer than the originally estimated 30k. Jump on Skype or something so we can discuss! :]

See, I have a different problem at the moment. I'm writing tons and arguably at the highest quality I have ever written... and not one bit of it has been towards any glint of a novel. With Uni winding down, hopefully I change that and get back into novel-writing.

Oh and relearn French, because I've forgotten too much.

I guess I'm giving it a shot, though their giving us less time for Dominance War this year. I might need that November time to get my artwork done, though I'm trying to get some speed going in my digital painting.
