A young boy, in his teens, sat down in the confessional, eyes tearing. "Forgive me Father, for I have sinned."
A bright blue flash of light. The boy had sinned. His arms were covered in track marks. He was shivering, in pain, and in need. He robbed people at knife point. He stole from his family. He was no longer welcome amongst anyone.
He was scared, but weak. He was beaten. Lost the will to fight. He came to the Church in false desperation; He didn't believe God could help him, but he did not know what to do.
And then, nothing.
"No my child, you have not."
The marks were still on his arm, but from what, the boy did not know. He did not know anything about how he had been spending his time. He felt strange, as if he did not know who he was. He rushed out, trying to be quiet and subtle and failing.
The Idea:
Father Schaum is a comic I am trying to make, once I find an artist. It follows a Catholic priest with an unusual ability: He can view and control others' memories.
Hoping to write up the plot, characters, and first story arc before long.

Characters
So far, I have three characters in mind:
Father Schaum: A 40 year old Catholic priest who, since a young age, has been able to see into the pasts of others. Raised in a large Catholic family, he was the only one to show any unique abilities. He knew something was wrong with him, and so he hid his powers from everyone except his priest, who dismissed it as a child's imagination.
In his mid-teens, the power took on new heights: He could not only view others' memories, he could destroy them. He viewed the powers as a gift from God; the ability to remove the memories of the tragedies that blocked people's path to the Lord. He decided to enter a seminary, and become a priest.
The viewing work almost like a library, the memories, the collection. He can sort through memories, getting a vague idea of what happened, seeing a 'cover' for the memory. He may then read deeper into the memory. If he wishes to remove the memory, it works like taking the book from their library into his own: A memory is not destroyed, so much as stolen.
Father Schaum cannot remove memories from his own mind, so he is stuck with the memories of all the sins he has viewed.
Humanity: Humanity is a man so old, he claims his original name can't be pronounced properly with the Latin alphabet. Humanity has two abilities that he refers to as God's joke on him; Rapid Cellular Regeneration and Spiritual Regeneration. Rapid Cellular means he can never age, and never die. Even dismembered, his body will grow back from the largest piece of himself.
His Spiritual Regeneration makes him impossible to destroy mentally. While the Father, and other psychics if they appear, can read and attack his mind with their powers, his mind will always recover. His memories and personality cannot be destroyed any more than his body, cursing him to eternal existence.
2,500 years of humanity has given Humanity a very bitter view towards his brothers and sisters: He has to remember every injustice, every act of hate, malevolence, every abomination onto humanity that has ever existed. He takes a strong position towards "purifying" the human race, particularly in the modern age, which he refers to as "The Age Humanity was reduced to a Cesspool."
He holds a strange relationship with Father Schaum who will eventually agree with his philosophy of removing people who are too corrupt to be redeemed, but that is where Humanity sometimes becomes an antagonist and sometimes a protagonist: Humanity does not believe people are redeemable, where as Schaum does. Humanity will sometimes kill off those Schaum believed could be saved, at which point the two may come to a quarrel.
His biggest current goal is destroying 4chan.
Humanity named himself so because of his belief that lead him to start his crusade: "The individuals change, but humanity never changes. And neither can I."
Addict: Addict is a drug lord with the most peculiar product: He can give others powers temporarily. People become addicted, physically and psychologically to his power. He controls how long the power lasts. The other aspect of his power is his tolerance: Once he has been affected by a non-physical power once, he becomes immune.
Addict is less like an addict and more like a drug dealer. He is the main antagonist to Father Schaum because Addict is very elusive, instead sending waves of people Father Schaum would have moral issues with fighting; children, Sisters and Fathers, people the Father has already redeemed. Addict plays dirty, and plays from the shadows. He will be mentioned a lot, but not appear until much later.
Addict's main ploy is to set traps by predicting which memories Father Schaum will follow, and preparing for him there.

I have been laying out the basic idea for the first story arc. Instead of introducing Humanity or Addict, the first story arc revolves around his discharge from the Church: He gets caught doing what he does, and instead of believing it is a gift from God to help sinners get past their sins to God's mercy, they view it as a gift from the devil to decieve. This will focus highly on characterization, showing how his powers work and what kind of person he is, as well as introducing a few people who will show up later. It will be the "Prologue" or "Mood setter" of the story.
The comic bookie part will come after.
