This eve me and my friends walked in the desert as the sun set, moving through rock and bramble, out onto a wide expanse of cleared land that was to be for housing development, but instead was stalled. It was left fenced and abandoned, plants slowly are reclaiming the rocky soil and large ridges and paths that were left. We were under the large Arizona horizon, with pink and purple clouds moving with the wind above. To look up was an other-worldly experience, almost.
To clinch it, as we stood on a rather high rise, was the moon began to rise. This night it was a full moon, the second of the month. A "blue" moon. We watch it's ascent and glow from behind the mountains and climb into the sky. It was sharp, clear and bright. We could see it move. On one side the moon rose over the empty desert, and on the other the pink, orange, and red of the sun still sat by the glittering lights of the city. A beautiful contrast.
This experience was profound and poetic for me and my companions. The bright moonlight cast shadows in our wake as we walked home to head off the party for the New Year.
It was this experience that drives me to begin the project.
Every evening I plan to write a poem- from sonnet to limerick, from the small light poems from the Rabbit Hole to an epic- based entirely on the inspiration the moon on that night gives me. If you have any feedback, I request you message me rather than post it here for the moment. I would like an uninterrupted stream of posts until the Cycle draws to a close.
Thank you.

moonlight shadow
moonlit shadow
softer than my glimmering lights
reflection of my reflection
the bright cool light
casts you to me.
lead my way, shadow
for the fuzzy darkness
is more refreshing and clear
than the sunny day.
