Promised I would - so here they are! These are the failures I attempted. The rewrites before I came up with the final.

~~~ ORIGINAL IDEA (Later used as info sheet and largely unedited)
Far, far away, in a distant universe, is a planet called Qwibeth. It is only a small planet, a healthy average human could walk its circumference in merely a month. It spins in an intricate pattern around a big shining star, and it has two moons, one small and bright yellow, the other much larger and green. The surface of the planet is mostly orange land, with a few dots of purple puddles splattered about.
Life for the planet Qwibeth is pretty simple and very colorful, it has the same seasons as Earth, but in minor different ways.
Spring, where everything starts to grow again in zips and booms, covering the orange earth with a pattern of colors. From the weird Falnidango plant with its exotic chocolate smell, to the Bwogele plant and its sharp thorns that can cut any metal on Earth.
Summer is the hottest season and a good time for rest. Life is slow in this season due to the exhausting heat. The orange land to hot to walk on, the trees lacking their spring, the leafs of the Falnidango plant crunched up and cracked.
Fall is when the harvest is at its most bountiful, with a rainbow of mix fruit available to pick. The amazing and lush Capilaylo that is shaped like a heart, the most sought after fruit.
Winter is not as harsh as Earth's normal is, but they do get snow in great heaps all over the land. This is when most of the animals go to rest or hide to keep warm. Even the Glileyle mouse, who lives in its mud hole, doesn't come out for a peek at the sky.
The seasons are the only similarity to Earth. Everything else is much more different. The color of the grass is a bright pink. The trees that grow do so in coils that collapsed and spring, and have stripy yellow and red bark. Even the water is a different color, purple and filled with fish that have no fins.
There is every sort of animal you could possibly imagine. Things with three feet and suckers to vacuum up flowers, billions of eyes and only one leg, or taller than skyscrapers but only one finger on which to bounce. There are lifeforms on Qwibeth that might resemble humans if it wasn't for their extra leg, tentacles and sideways walk.
There is one such amazing beast on Qwibeth that is rather peculiar. There is only one on the entire planet, and only five known in existence amongst the billions upon trillions of stars that dance in outer space. It is a Humpafel.
What is a Humpafel? It is a very unusual creature, even for Qwibeth. The Humpafel usually hibernates during Spring and Summer, only waking up in Fall as the leaves on the springy trees turn a dull blue. It has three fluffy white body parts that has several black dots in a pattern, it also has an orange beak that is short and crooked. At each corner of its body it has a leg. It is an extremely long leg, at least six foot, that is striped green and red, and it ends in a ducks foot.
The Humpafel really isn't very scary looking, and it really isn't interested in scaring you anyway. The Humpafel has a job to do. Every year, around fall time, it comes out of its hibernation to eat the dull blue leaves that fall from the springy trees. The stomach of a Humpafel is very different from a human stomach. It can digest the fallen leafs. As it munches away the old, as nature often does, it leaves a new little something behind. Millions of small, never identical, snowflakes fall from its fluffy behind.
Once awake the Humpafel never rests, since he spent the last half a year asleep in its slumber. The Humpafel will continue to munch until the entire planet of Qwibeth is covered in a soft white blanket of fresh snow. Plodding from tree to tree, skittering around the purple ponds, scooping up the dull blue leafs in its little beak.
Not everybody gets to see a Humpafel for they are very shy creatures and very quick. Only a few have ever been seen, which is how we know so much about them, but there is still more that we do not know.
What we do know is that when a Humpafel is found they move quickly to disguise themselves. They shrink their bodies and pull in their striped legs until the fluffy parts of their bodies are directly on top of each other. It is only then that you find out what the meaning of the black markings on the Humpafel's coat are for, because sitting in front of you is what looks like an ordinary snowman. Three black dots for buttons, two for eyes, and a line in the fluff for a smile. His orange beak closed to look just like a carrot for a nose.
So next time you see a snowman, and you reckon it moved, do not be surprised if it’s a Humpafel hidden under that snow!
~~~ ADDED ON IDEA (Somehow it just didn't work. My brain stopped me from writing it. Also not finished and will never be!)
“Now, make sure you wrap up! It’s cold out there!” Granddad bent down in the small hallway with a muffled grunt to help the children with their coats. He tugged the tiny duffel coats closed and pulled the scarfs tighter, preparing them for the outside cold.
“Aw - but Granddad!” The little boy moaned and fidgeted. He disliked the attention Granddad and Grandma always gave him. He was impatient to get outside and play. They'd already made him wait long enough this morning, insisting he had breakfast before playing.
His sister seemed to be enjoying the fuss. She simply stood with her head held high as Granddad repositioned her earmuffs and tucked her brunette plaited long-hair inside her collar. She loved staying over at her Grandparents house because they would always tell her wonderful stories and let them stay up late. Her Mother was not good at storytelling and never got the voices right like Granddad did.
“Now run along and play, little ones!” Grandma said gently, pushing the two towards the open front-door.
The children did not need telling twice. They almost slipped down the porch steps in the rush to get outside and into the snow. Grandma followed them outside to watch, holding Granddad's hand as she went. The both of them had huge grins that seemed to remove years from their faces.
It had snowed overnight, at least two feet of it, and it was still going. Dainty little snowflakes fell and danced on the faint breeze, it was like a cold ballet. The family car, which was normally a bright red was covered in a blanket of snow. The shrubs and trees were laden with it, pulled down by the weight. The road on which they lived had not been shoveled yet. It was like a winter-land dream, especially for the children. Everything was a crisp white and faint cold blue. Everything apart from the children in their colorful duffel coats, with their bright glowing red faces.
Grandma and Granddad stayed on the porch, sat on the wooden bench, and watched the children play. The children had started a snowball fight, building little bases and trying to duck incoming snowballs. The brother was getting most of the snowball hits in, and definitely winning the fight. He didn't care so much about building his base.
It wasn't very often they got to look after the little ones, but this year was special. It was their parents, Granddad's daughter Emily's, anniversary. They had jetted off to the Bahamas for a week and had left Jessie and David in their care. Which Granddad and Grandma were more than happy to do.
The shouts and squeals of play fighting carried on for another twenty minutes until the children got tired. They started making snowmen and snow angels within their little bases. They dug up the snow in great heaps to reveal the flattened grass beneath it. Once two lopsided snowmen were built David sat next to it and opened his mouth to catch snowflakes. Jessie soon joined him, feeling tired and cold.
Seeing that the children were tired Granddad winked at Grandma and called over in jest. “Oh, no! Don't eat that! You don't know where it's been! C'mon up here and let me tell you a story about snowflakes.”
Jessie did not hesitate. She carefully climbed the stairs with one hand on the banister and took a seat on the opposite bench from Granddad. It took David a while to come back. He was busy demolishing his snowman, as all little boys do, with both feet and grunts. Soon enough both children were sat on the other wooden bench, eyes wide and ready for the story.
“This story is set on a far away planet, called Frodeth. It is a small planet. One could walk the entire way around it in only a month.” Granddad began.
“But that's not possible, Granddad!” Jessie complained, rubbing her hands together for warmth.
“Oh, but it is, Jessie. Now shush! Frodeth is very much like Earth, but it has unusual plants and animals. People still live in houses, though. It would be silly otherwise.” Jessie giggled at his remark. David just rolled his eyes a little. “It has the same seasons as Earth does. Spring, summer, autumn and winter. Although every winter something strange happens.”
“What happens?” David was finally hooked. The curiosity has snagged him easily.
Grandma rose and headed into the house. She had decided that the story needed hot chocolate and marshmallows after seeing Jessie rub her hands together. Granddad eased back into the wooden bench, moving an inflatable cushion to provide more support for his back. He then continued on with the story, both children still staring at him wide eyed.
“Every year, as Winter approaches and the leaves on the giant trees turn from pink to a darker purple, an animal that has been hibernating wakes up,” Granddad saw that Jessie was just about to protest. ”Yes, most animals normally hibernate during Winter but this is a special animal.”
