Not to mention you can hook up with people in your neighbourhood... Fuck people; I roll alone. Yes. Which would grow worse by the minute. Hence skipping the middleman and getting the fuck out of there before things get too bad to make that possible. That panic is going to become a full blown riot in minutes not to mention roadblocks by police and such are going to get stuck. I doubt you would be able even leave the city... Exactly. And you well know that with every passing second, it'll become more and more difficult to get out. Which is why we start in the fucking car. Seriously, it's like you two are starting to realize, "... yeah, maybe the car was the better choice..." and just won't admit it for the sake of the argument. Hmm... I'm gonna vote for the car. Because we can be smart and ditch it when things get crowded. Then we have nothing... in the open, during a full blown riot + zombie invasion. Car = nothing. Full blown riot = instant. Clearly it would be better to wait until the roads are -completely- backed up and the riot more thoroughly develops (aka, option 3). You are really, really dumb.

Wow, you have you ever driven in a city in a car? Do you think it's going to take us only a few minutes to get out even if there aren't roadblocks? By the time we get two-three blocks anywhere, the army is going to have the city in quarantine unless they're incompetent. It would easier to be home where we can find out about the quarantine and act on that news, and have the supplies we need if we can't get out.

You know, the argument you're trying to make isn't a bad one. You've got points to argue with. You're just not using them. Use your head, dammit. A)) The army can vaporize downtown within the time it takes to travel two blocks? No. B)) News = exists without television. This thing called "radio". I think it's new. C)) Because you've got ample supplies to outlast a zombie invasion -at your house-? Come on. You're not even putting up a decent argument. This is sad.

We don't know what traffic is like in this unnamed city, Dragon. Besides, I've driven around in Chicago a while ago, and it's not that bad. And if worst comes to worst, and you're right, then we'll probably be near somewhere where we can find weapons.

Kaez, essentially it comes down to the question of which is more dangerous - other people panicking, or the zombies?
If you wait it out in your home, you'll have to deal with zombies. If you try to escape right away, you'll have to deal with the panic.
I think the line of thinking most people are going through here is that it'd be safer to get out after the panic had subsided and with the zombies overrunning the city rather than chaos.

Like I told Dragon, the other option -has- merits. jrerowland@gmail.com (10:05:01 PM): This guy has a two storey house, something unusual for the city. jrerowland@gmail.com (10:05:08 PM): Suggests being rich. jrerowland@gmail.com (10:05:15 PM): I bet he has some handy stuff at home. ^ Example. He's just really bad at defending it, and I'm having fun watching.

There's no question that the army will end up burning the entire city, I never questioned leaving the city, but being in a car isn't going to help, its a city, peak hour or not, there is still traffic unless it's smaller then fucking Sydney. Hell even Canberra takes half an hour to get out of and it's more a town then a city.
True, but at most it's going to be a constant alert warning, I doubt your going to have news reporters and speeches from people outside the city.
No, but you've got more then the chip packet and half eaten sandwich in your car...

You're right. A car will not help -leaving somewhere with roads-. Best take the rafts.
Why is that? Because outside the city is safe? The place that we can get to faster in our car than our magically teleporting home?
You don't have the proper tools to change your tire in your car? I think that might even be -illegal- in the states....

I'm saying that the army is going to deal with the city most likely by just wiping it out, so I'm agreeing with you that we need to get out fast. Except if we start in the car and do manage to make it to the edge of the city and find out they did quarantine the city, then what? we have a tyre jack and snacks... And how do we know they will let survivors out? they might not want to risk it. If we start at our house we are in the position to make more informed choices and if we end up getting stuck, we might of been able to bring friends in our street along with us.

Ah, guys.
How do we know if this is even just city-wide. It could be worldwide. In fact, I'm betting it is.

Where's the risk? Let's keep this zombie story from being dangerous and we won't take chances. That'll be lots of fun.
