"To Sleep; Perchance to Dream" Wow, I would really have to go scrounging to dig that up. Yea, I may not have it tomorrow, but I can see if it's hiding out somewhere. If you -do- find it, PM it to me. I wanna give a reread before it gets posted. I haven't seen it in. . . shit, 14 years. I would, by all means, submit it to you before stapling it to the telephone pole of this public forum.

I would, by all means, submit it to you before stapling it to the telephone pole of this public forum. I use to have a computer disk that had all that old stuff on it, and character sheets, and maps, and stats for the old Dragonlance campaign. . . Wish i could find it. I know I've still got it somewhere, I'm terrible about getting rid of old crap.

This Time
I don't have to forgive you I don't have to ever forget Everything that I gave you Or every time that I died when you left
I've chased you 'cross so many Burning bridges just to Catch you If you fall
But I told myself this time Things would be different This time I'd walk away And I swear to God this time I'll be indifferent This time Never again
It happened again We're here again

I dreamed of you last night. I dreamed you were dying. "Something viral. The infection's reached her brain." "She will not last the night."
I felt compelled to see you. Dream logistics carried me thousands of miles in an instant.
Your mother was there, Seated on your hospital bed. I apologized for ancient history. You stood before the window.
We spoke of neither past nor future, In fact, we spoke little at all.
I cried for the first time since the the last time we spoke. I lamented your passing as though you weren't already a ghost. I kissed your forehead like I used to, And said goodbye.

That's a nice poem, Adam. I liked it. It was surprising. It's hard to critique or review poetry, though. I'll say I thought a few phrases felt clunky or like they were in a slightly different tone than the rest ("she will not", "neither past nor", "dream logistics"), but that's a minor hang-up and I don't really have any specific reason to suggest you change them. So.
Overall, I thought it was nice. And, again, surprising. Was't expecting to click on this thread and find a poem like that.
But sad, though.
Sad poem.

It wasn't really intended to be a poem, it's actually just a dream I had that stuck with me. Been thinking about it for a few days now, can't shake it, thought maybe writing it would get it out.
I sort of just separated it into the "scenes" I remembered and how I remembered them.
I'm glad you liked it, though.
