2000ft above sea level near the Desert of Twilight.
The tall man stood beside the captain of the lead airship, his light blue eyes staring out the window to the land that passed beneath them. He wore a long black wool trench coat with a high collar and a black officer cap to keep his short brown hair back, underneath the coat was a silver cuirass, leg guards and arm guards. He had a leather belt to hold up black officer pants with a handgun strapped to it in a brown leather holster. Black high leather boots and gloves finished the attire.
The cockpit of the airship was busy with the radioman constantly updating him and the others on the other six airships and their movements. Each airship carried around a hundred men each, fifty of which were soldiers and other personal required for the expedition. The skies were clear for now but a storm front was sighted ten minutes ago and preparations were being made to find a suitable landing site.
"The RAS Maxim reports that there is a open area to the east that is behind some hill, that would offer the most protection" the radioman said as he turned from the radio.
"Well sir?" the captain said to the man beside him.
"Take us down captain" he said not moving.
"As you wish sir" the captain said as he took a phone from the control panel.
This is the captain, prepare for landing, landing crew on standby.
In minutes the fleet was beginning to descend to the plains below. The land crew rappelled from the ships and began the procedure of securing them to the land. An hour later they had all been successfully landed and secured. Tents had been set up and the expeditionary force was relaxing the afternoon away.
"Sir, where do we head from here tomorrow?" the navigator of the lead airship said as he sat besides Sir Alexander Dragonwing, leader of the expedition and the officer that was on the airship before.
"North, following these mountains here, that should lead us past where the last expedition tried to go" he said, his finger tracing a path close to the mountains.
"Then it shall be done, for the empire" the navigator said nodding and rolling up the maps.
"Yes, for the empire" smiled Alexander.
