One cannot develop cultures, a world, characters, and eventually a story without a place for it all to unfold in! So step one in the Projects must of course be a map! "So what program did you use to make it?" "Program?" I laugh, "You teenagers and your... rock n' roll... and computers..." Hand-drawing is, in my humble opinion, the only way to get a proper map out - and hand-drawing is what I've done! The first sketch of the map is: Of course, it's a vague map dealing strictly with the major landforms: Rivers, forests, mountains, lakes - and a few others slightly there, but difficult to see due to the process of both scanning and uploading include deserts, hills, swamps, craters, and a bit of tropics. As it's missing all of these details, I'm going to have to be able to zoom in and further elaborate each area. The way to do that is via grid: (( FROM LINE TO LINE, STRAIGHT, IS 50 MILES. )) This will allow me to fully flesh out the map with all towns, cities, smaller landmarks, roads, etc. -- all the fixin's in a much larger scale and I'm considering in-color! So far, the world itself still lacks a name... mainly because I've been so absorbed in map-making, I've not yet thought about it! Hrm... Ideas? Thoughts? Cowbell?

I withhold my ideas for names since I have a somewhat similar undertaking myself.
But I have somewhat of a suggestion. Multiple continents. Might be nice to have, so that navies have a real purpose.

Nah, very specifically and intently went for a single continent. I intend to eventually, though probably not in the first story, detail the exploration of the rest of the world, where other landmass will be discovered. But until then, this is the entirety of the known world.

Few names pop up to mind. Juron Kalon Erm...yeah, I like names ending in "on"... Pytha? Nah... Oooh... those first two... hmm...

For a fantasy world of mine, I've named it Auron. I like naming planets and world ending in -on...I don't know, it just seems like it fits.

Any riverlands? I mean, truly just burrowed with the things? Those places are fertile ground for food, civilization and war.

Okay, so just that small region I've started on, that little thing, would be the following (laptop shown for size comparison): AKA: Really fucking big. Sorry guys, but that's just going to be -way- too fucking big, all combined. Way too fucking big. I was hoping to pull it off, but that was a sense of perspective. I've got to zoom out. It would just take -way- too much fucking time.
