(( Open Story means anyone can post their stories about campaigns they've played in the game. The stories will (hopefully) be based on campaigns you've played in the game and found to be exceptionally epic. ))
The Vatican. It stood as the first planet in the sector, and the home planet for TEC's subsect sent to colonize the sector, the Karkak Armada, teamed up with rebel Vasari allies, the Blackfire Armada. They first landed in the green star system, or the Quanth system, which the star was named. We landed on the outskirts of the system, and immediately began developing our home planets. During this, we built the beginning of our fleets, starting with the capital ship; The Bullet.
We didn't know what was lurking in this sector, but who wanted to take chances? We constructed lasers and guns on all sides of the ship, in order to defend whilst turning the ship. Admiral Pline was put in command of this father ship, and was accompanied by thirteen frigates. He launched six months after construction, to the an asteroid in an oddly sphere-shaped form, dubbed The Lone Star. Plith quickly colonized The Lone Star and turned back into Vatican's atmosphere, heading East to Ginevera, where he'd set up another colony.
During this time, Blackfire Armada already had a massive fleet colonizing half the entire system, leaving the other half for us. Generous folks, even for war-mongering aliens. We colonized everything on our half, including Heoith, the Arctic planet, which became our Trade Capital of the Solar System. Thousands of trade ships entered and left Heoith a day.
Then the Prophets and the Serak came.
They blasted from the Northeast, landing near our star. The Spearhead Fleet, owned by the Blackfire Armada, was already patrolling the sect, and was able to destroy a sizable chunk of the fleet. They moved in on Heoith, and held a siege on the world for forty god-damned years. Fleet's were preoccupied, busy fortifying and fighting other enemies that found their way over here.
It was hell. We needed another fleet, but we couldn't afford one, nor did we have the men to supply these ships. Then, one of our brilliant scientists stepped up. Kroskov finished his schematics for a Space Station. Without much choice, we constructed the Heavy Cruiser and launched it over to Quanth. Months went by. Then, something blipped on our radars.
The Death Star, named for an old movie, was a space station with full operational defenses and squadrons of ships, along with Drakstov, the Vasari station, that was mobile and defended against all incoming and outgoing enemies. Then, we discovered something. Without the proper codes, all ships that Phase Jumped out of Quanth's gravity well suffered extreme hull damage and lost all antimatter. It was a perfect offense and defense rolled into one.
While that occurred, folks at the Vatican launched The Vanity. It was sent into orbit around Quanth, to aid the station and their hundreds of ships.
The Bullet and it's massive fleet, with Quanth finally under control, was launched into the red, or Liliath system, with the Blackfire Armada.
We never heard from the fleet again, back here on the Vatican. Only one man from an old ship came back, and he was old, scarred... and proud.
