It was a quick lie.
Yes, she knew the implications. She knew them far too well, prior experience having taught her the results. All that anger, fire, brimstone, whatever you'd like to call it. The simplest name was ruined friendship.
Her heart hadn't been racing like his heart had been racing. She didn't feel him like he felt her. She wasn't sure if she wanted to.
He wanted an answer, but how could she hurt him? He was too kind, too pleasant, too accommodating to be told the truth. She had to come up with something that wouldn't hurt him, so she said what she swore she wouldn't say.
"I love you."
She didn't, but now she was obligated.
'I love you."
She wanted him to be happy as she wanted any friend of hers to be happy.
"I love you."
She wanted him, but emotional love?
"I love you."
She knew that he loved her, knew that he needed a response, but she knew that saying 'I love you' would never be enough.
"I love you."
---- Aaagh first post on here is VERY depressing.

Aaagh first post on here is VERY depressing. Oh that's okay. It's hard to be convincingly emotional or insightful without touching on something a little darker, something with an edge. Just try not to be too depressing if you come to the Random Banter boards Nice start. Welcome to the community.

Thus is the reason I shall avoid love. Don't know what you're missing, mate.
