Goodwill
At first we were happy to help out. Their pleas were too much to ignore. It was a starving world slowly collapsing like a body void of life. The fields were bare, cattle were dying from diseases in droves, and rivers had all but dried up. It was pitiful. We didn’t care how they had gotten to this point – not while children wasted away and mothers ran out of milk.
We provided food and helped till the land. They planted new crops with our help and started raising animals that could be slaughtered for their meat. We didn’t expect anything in return but truth was that they never offered any recompense either! We learnt too late that it was a greedy race; all smiles and goodwill until things turn sour and desperate.
After a couple of moths those we were helping found out about our advanced genetics program. Gluttony took over as they demanded for things to be bigger and better than before. The food stores were overflowing and meat was rotting quicker than it could be eaten. Cows as large as skyscrapers were being born and maturing in a matter of weeks and corn was big enough to crush standard houses.
We warned them. We tried to stop the madness but this would start their pathetic pleas again like a mewling baby.
It was a hard lesson to learn. Sometimes things are just meant to die – pleas or not! The Human race is a vermin and one we wish we’d never met.
