Though low on cash, I'd pay for a book. Nice to have something tangible to represent us.
Now... didn't someone do that AWR family tree thing? If we did a nicer version to send into the book, that would be cool.
I'll contribute some art I think.
Also, who's putting this all together for you guys? Are you just compiling with one of these sites or is someone gonna gather it all together from here?

We were going to PM you about some art for potentially the cover and such. You and Shinga might be able to really help us out, but we'd like your opinions and thoughts about how we should incorporate art and what exactly you'd like to do. Anyway, yeah, the plan is really just to: 1) Decide on what kind of book we want exactly, which currently seems split between anthology and yearbook; 2) Gather the necessary stuff from our various members based on that; 3) Assemble it stylishly and get some art from yourself, Shinga, and whomever else; 4) Look into publishing -- James can say more about that.

I still have that tree saved, a whole computer later.

The birthday is the 25th July.
So if we can have it done by then, that would be great. But not absolutely necessary.

Blurb is still not recommended and the paper is a little weird. Createspace will give you a better end product and an ISBN. Blurb is better for photo albums, etc.
I already know a shit-load about publishing, given my small adventure in to that land and subsequential fail. (Really need to work on Armadillidium and get it working again or change my approach.)

I think once we're done, we're definitely going to be coming to you for advice. I've never really looked that far beyond e-publishing. Anyway, yeah, the plan is really just to: 1) Decide on what kind of book we want exactly, which currently seems split between anthology and yearbook; Right. The way I see it is the anthology+ or anthology comes down to this: do we want a celebration of AWR and its history (anthology+) or do we want something to showcase us as writers (anthology). I can definitely imagined this as something just for -us-. For AWR members to have as a memory of the last five years. Part-writing and just part-AWR Celebration, with in-jokes, history, etc on show. I didn't really consider this as a project that could go beyond the members of the forum, and be a proper, serious anthology that can be published wider than just AWR members. But is that something people want to do?

But is that something people want to do? Yeah, I hadn't considered that either, that anyone would want something someone outside of the AWR circle could pick up and read. But I suppose there's no good reason why we couldn't just -have a section- of the 'yearbook' be an anthology. It's not like we're crammed for space or anything. We can fit both into a single book. If you want to show someone it, show them the latter half, not the first half. Unless people wanted something that we could actually publish, like, -to the masses-. But that really wasn't what we (the Admins) had in mind, here. We were more thinking about a collaborative gift from all the members -to- all the members.

Why not do the AWR-only thing, see how that goes, and if everything goes pretty smooth and it turns out good, then there's plenty of material leftover for an anthology.
Make it a tribute/trial run at publishing.

In the "most likely to" section, Kaez has to just win "Most." And then a picture of his post count.

However, getting subs wasn't easy and topics were hit and miss. I could have been better at organisation there and made it more accessible for you guys, etc. Learning curve.

With the effort to keep discussion going and moving:
An AWR Yearbook/Celebration/Memorabilia: - Cover Art (Bloodeye/Shinga) - Foreword (The Admins) - Family Tree/AWR History - Stories (Anthology Part) - Artwork - Most Likely To (Yearbook like) - Quotes and Funny Moments
Add. Remove. Discuss.
