Writers Brawl

Since Pete is missing in action, I think I should get this going without him. Hopefully the people that have shown an interest still do and maybe we can pick up some new people.

What is the brawl?

So the brawl is a new competition we are going to try that (hopefully) has a system that is more flexible with our erratic participation levels.

The way it works, is that everyone will participate in each round. It is a free for all and you all share the same topic for that round. At the end, you are to rank the other participants 1-5 (or 1-however many people there are in the round minus yourself). I can go into how the ranking is done if you want, but the only part you as the participant need to worry about is making sure to send in a score for the other contestants. It is also highly suggested that you send in a review for the stories if you can, even if it is just one. I know I'm not as good as Pete but if a story doesn't get a review, I'll try to fill in the blank spot myself.

The topics themselves will avoid genre limiting, but I'll also try to keep them interesting, so while one round might be "Forest" the next round might be "must contain a falling feather". If anyone has something they would not see, please mention it. I'm also taking suggestions so feel free to post them.

I'm thinking four rounds is good enough.

Time

So I'm still unsure about times, other than wanting to start this Monday (Sunday for you the Americans). How long do you want to write each round, and do you want a day, or two to write any reviews and get votes in?

Current suggestion:

We will start the first round as thus:
Canberra: Monday, 6 June at 10am
Honolulu: Sunday, 5 June at 2pm
Los Angeles: Sunday, 5 June at 5pm
Pittsburgh: Sunday, 5 June at 8pm

Writing will last 5 days, so it will be due:
Canberra: Friday, 10 June at 10am
Honolulu: Thursday, 9 June at 2pm
Los Angeles: Thursday, 9 June at 5pm
Pittsburgh: Thursday, 9 June at 8pm

You will then have until Monday the week after (Canberra time) to get your scores and reviews in.

The comp is designed so you don't have to write something every week. Just means you are at a disadvantage against someone who has.
