Because he originally said he'd help judge? Dude. You're making it sound like I just left Pete to die. We had an odd number of people, so Pete said that I should just write and he would solo judge. So clearly, as the last person to decide to write... this is Allya's fault. <3 Ah yes. The blame game resumeth. It's understood why its back.

Is it that there is a little lull in the competition that, as far as I can tell, everyone seems to appreciate? Because if that's the case, you're giving them credit, not passing blame.

It also gives time for Sisyphus to roll his boulder up the hill twice and come and join the rest of us in the Fourth Round.

My bad, thought it was pretty clear I was being sarcastic. I'm still working on Round 3. The lull is good.

You know what I'd -really- like to see, though? Less of this: Alright. So I submitted... something. It's not funny nor complete. I'm almost embarrassed by it. *sigh* There we are, one pile of complete nonsense, whipped up extra hasty, as ordered. What's that? You wanted world building with that? I'm sorry, sir, we don't do that kind of thing here. Perhaps you should try some other restaurant, I'm sure they'll have something more to your liking. I'm posting soon. Here's a tip, what I have is not great, you have a strong chance at this no matter what you write. Like Agro said earlier to Injin, you guys gotta quit judging yourselves and just be happy that you're writing. I mean, and this goes back a bit to the last competition I helped judge; I thought we're all here on AWR because writing is a thing we enjoy. I thought we all signed up for competitions because it sounded like fun. When you guys post stuff like this; this self-judgmental, pity party stuff, it makes it sound like -work- rather than fun. Maybe that's not the best way to express what I'm feeling about this... I guess, I just thought we all enjoyed these competitions, but you guys act like someone guilted you into signing up and you're just phoning it in so you can say you participated and then put this whole thing behind you. Be proud of what you wrote, look for the good stuff. If there's stuff you don't like or think you could have done better, refine it, -try-. Kaez is clearly pretty flexible on deadlines and you're all creative people with good, interesting ideas for stories and worlds and characters. Open the box, put it out there, good, bad, ugly... who cares? Just put it on paper so we can share it with you. You'll never get better if you keep being embarrassed about your work. AWR is supposed to be a safe place where we can all be as good or as bad as we want. Write the stuff you're holding back, get enthused! I read posts, like the ones I quoted, and it makes me feel legitimately sad.

In the grand Hollywood tradition, let me be the first to remake a classic AWR phrase... You know what I'd -really- like to see, though? Less of this: Alright. So I submitted... something. I got plenty of stuff to be proud of in past competitions, I just don't think this competition has seen my best yet. All the stuff I have submitted so far has been done way too close to the due date (or past it). Hell, my first round I scrapped my original story and wrote the one I submitted 2 hours before it was due. However, I really only voiced that opinion because I wanted Injin to post, I wanted to assure him he still had a chance and should post even if he wasn't confident about his work. Most of the time I don't try and voice my opinion of what I wrote until at least after its judged.

I was joking around and things got all serious. I assumed Jor was joking so I responded without thinking clearly about how other people would respond.

Just because I'm often displeased with the final product does not mean I didn't enjoy the process. I do enjoy writing, I really, really like our competitions. It's just easier to bitch and moan than to acknowledge I might be not bad at something because mumble mumble self-esteem mumble mumble. I'm actually very happy with my round two piece, but I don't post about that because I have this stupid idea that it would sound arrogant. Honestly, you guys are probably the main reason I still write, I feel obligated to deliver my best, but I always feel like I could and should do better. But I know if I get caught up in all that I'd never finish anything, so I post something mediocre and complain about it. Thank you for putting up with my crap and helping me grow as a writer and as a person.

I'm actually quite proud of my latest one :] Have you read it, Z? I don't think it'll hit the comedy mark but it was fun to write.

Maybe, while the break is on-going, we can take the time to read other people's work and review it? Just a thought! A thought which I think is a very good idea. Although only the rounds which have already been done by Kaez :]
