Sometimes that's the best you can hope for. The game can be punishing.

Sometimes that's the best you can hope for. The game can be punishing. Yep, been plenty of moments I've hoped my 80 year olds don't die so they can keep working in my iron mines.

And if you like graphs and charts and stats... Boy, have I got a treat for you!

And finally... A series of overhead screenshots ham-fistedly pasted together in MS paint to give you a rough idea of the whole map.

Man, what a cool looking little town. I'm home for the weekend away from my PC, so I haven't had a chance to play yet. But that made me all the more anxious. Shame there isn't an in-game function to zoom out far enough to see the whole map, but I can already guarantee you that I'm going to be doing as you did, compiling a town map, and meticulously hand-drawing it.
And GRAPHS. Oh man. I love a good graph.
I'm gonna' like this game.
How much farther, tech-wise, can you get? You seem to have a fairly advanced place.

Everything is open up to you from start, but bigger buildings take more resources, especially stone and iron. So you probably won't be building stone houses off the bat. Zovo seems to be as advanced as you get, but getting to the point where you can upkeep so many farms and have that many stone buildings probably has taken him a long time.

Zovo seems to be as advanced as you get, but getting to the point where you can upkeep so many farms and have that many stone buildings probably has taken him a long time. Yeah, there's no tech trees or anything like that. There are a limited set of buildings which serve a limited set of functions. You can build any building you want whenever you want, provided you have the resources to do so. The challenge is in resource management and balancing those functions. At this point I just received the achievement for having 100+ Stone Houses. I've been building of stone lately because, you'll notice, I'm running low on wilderness areas, so firewood is becoming something of a commodity. So, I'm only building stone houses when I need to expand and converting old wood houses into stone whenever resources allow. It's not so much a lengthy process as a delicate one and it's pretty resource intensive. If you look on the map, in the far south, you'll see a Quarry under construction. This is my -fourth- Quarry. The original one next to my Town Hall is empty, and the other two are at less than 10% remaining. I'm also trying to convert to coal as a fuel source as mines take up way less space than having a team of Foresters handling the lumber issue (way more manpower though); but if I do that, I'll have to have my blacksmiths go back to making regular iron tools instead of steel so they aren't using up all the coal. As far as the Farms go. I currently employ 156 Farmers between farms and orchards. That's over a quarter of my total workforce, and I need them mainly because I've got a lot of children and students who love to eat food, but do little more than spread diseases around.

Oh, man, it's like a whole different game once you start running low on land to expand into. My working population is over 650, with another 150-200 in students and children. Thinking I'm gonna have to go to simple iron tools like I thought because too much of my coal is winding up as fuel and a tool shortage is imminent. Maybe I can half-and half it; have some smiths making iron and some making steel...
One thing that's nice is the once your population gets big enough, the game is a little more forgiving. Mainly just because you've a little more as far as excess resources where you can notice things like a food shortage -before- you burn through all your stores in one season and people start dying.
