I'm pretty sure someone wrote a 6,000 word story last year.
I think you're good.

I'd say it would be bad if at 675 you -did- feel halfway done. Edit: perhaps "bad" is the wrong word. I would seriously rethink the piece if I felt halfway finished at under 2,500 words.

I don't mind short! ;D Would probably count in your favour but then I'm only one vote against the many who call 50 words too short.

I'd be comfortable with that, but not anything much shorter. I have a tendency to wrap up quickly... so even feeling halfway finished at 2500 words I could probably bring the story to a close in less than 3500. Point is, if you're submission is feeling complete at less than 1000, you're probably overlooking something.

Got around 1200 words now. Will work more on it tonight. Not sure yet how good the final product will be, but I sincerely hope it's better than what I did last year.

What did you do last time? I'm not sure I remember yours.

What did you do last time? I'm not sure I remember yours. I lost in the first round to Reffy if I remember correctly. Other than that, I don't remember.

I was the most excited and hyped ... and I was knocked out in the first round. I don't even recall who I wrote against. If only all of you had read Charles Stross's Laundry series. You would have gotten it!
