James rummaged in his pockets and pulled out a fox hunting whistle.

"If you get in trouble, just blow this and one of us will come help you."

Pete glared at them both, then smacked the whistle out of James' hand and stalked away towards the far door.

"Come on," he sulked. "We need to go. Save the world. Or something. Whatever."

He spun the locking wheel, and swung the hatch open before disappearing through it. Matteo and James waited until he was out of sight, craning their necks to be sure he was gone, then fist-bumped without looking at each other. They mimed their fists exploding in unison, then stepped over the body of a ninja and followed after.

I laughed way too hard.

I've been trying to reference his granddad without actually referencing his granddad, since Pete and James aren't supposed to know about him till later.

Was just thinking that having both james and Matteo trained by family members just adds to the whole "can't tell one from another" problem.
