Also Morgan le Fay isn't a protagonist, she's an antagonist. There was a series around the Matter of Britain, in the 80s I think, which ruined the whole thing to just make the women seem more powerful. That's one of the last series written on the MoB, so I'm going back to how the legend has always been and not to gain some sort of political/social gain. I loved The Mists of Avalon. ._. Anyway, I love the Arthurian legend, but I really don't like the fact that French medieval writers like Chrétien de Troyes tampered with the mythology that the Bretons brought south. They essentially made it into romantic nonsense, and stifled all the good stuff that was originally drawn from Celtic myth. Like Galahad and Camelot. It really surprised me that Camelot wasn't from the original mythology. =O

Problem was the original myth didn't have too much because of damn William the Bastard and his invasion from Normandy! He burnt most Anglo-Saxons litrature. So it's now quite nessecary to add the French parts because if you don't you really have a lot of loopholes. I also like some parts of the French Romantic that was added, I also don't like some parts.
I won't be adding in those parts ;D
And the Mists of Avalon, it made me want to tear out my eyes. It completely distorted the legend for political/social gain. That's just bad.

Mists of Avalon was fantastic, historically accurate or not.
May be the longest single book I've ever read. That thing was pretty nicely sized. Think maybe one of the Harry Potters was bigger.... MAYBE.

historically accurate or not. However I love the legend. Therefore I didn't like the book. *sage nod*

MAYBE. Read Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke. Not only is it long and dense, it's fantastic, hilarious, chilling, epic, and humble by turns. Best book of 2004. Seriously. I know that wasn't quite relevant to the thread, but really, it's such a good book that I had to go off on a tangent for it.

Any more feedback?
I might put one more chapter up. Maybe. Haven't decided yet.

Hey I just watched a movie my missus hired call "The Last Legion"... have you seen it? Basically a fantasy/historical about Augustus Romulos Ceaser and a wizard and a magic sword....
In the end they settle in britannia and a few decades on the last two dudes are a wizard called merlin and they mention the Pendragon.... and the magic sword is embedded deep into a big rock...
Coincidence or am i missing something?

Just a different re-telling of Matter of Britain. It always happen as the Roman Empire is crumbling and then its up to the author/director what direction he wants to go in.

Also here's a clip from a film I don't reallu use for reference but rather inspiration. Also I have taken some physical appearance from the characters for my characters.
Note: Morgan le Fay in this is totally different to Morgan le Fay of my story. My Morgan is more like Queen Mab.

I don't know much about the King Arthur tale, or the characters. But I thought it was really good Agro. Despite a few typos and sentances that could use rewording, I thought it played nicely with the real world/magic coexisitng, as well as the religious parts. Imo, Merlin should have stayed longer with his wife at the end. I don't know how long it had been since he last seen her, but only having a meal with her would not fufill my stomach for my girl, and I get to see her twice a week. I'm just waiting for the Radin character to make an apperance,

It really surprised me that Camelot wasn't from the original mythology. =O I just made the decision to scrap Camelot and not include it. Anywho... Locking thread since the book is now heading in a completely different direction. See you again in a similar thread when I have an excerpt to give you. ;D
