So before I can go zooming in on the gridded map and fleshing out areas, I need to know what kind of people live there as to properly detail their towns, cities, etc!
So the order I'll go in will be Culture A - Map section A - Culture B - Map section B, and so on, and so forth.
Now then, I needed a spreadsheet of sorts - some sort of guidelines to follow when mapping out each culture. This is what I've come up with. If you can think of anything I'm missing, PLEASE let me know! :]
<Official Culture Name> Major or Capital City: Other Cities: All Towns: Government Type: Crime and Law: Professions: Trade, Currency and Economy: Market: Organizations: Celebrations and Events: Education: Communication and Language: Social Class Structure: Population: Nature, Food and Resources: Wildlife: Climate: Geography: Mounts and Pets: Technology and Medicine: Subcultures: Militia: Weapons and Armor: Brief Timeline: Relations w/ Other Cultures: Homes: Religion and Spirituality: Architecture: Clothing: Arts and Literature: Entertainment and Culture:

You seem to have everything, Kaez.
I'd add in Military Structure, but I suppose that falls under Government, doesn't it?

Added: and Medicine to Technology. Okay, I start my work on [Civilization 1] today. Considering the other 8 Civilizations haven't been worked out, a lot of the things I say, mainly in the Foreign Relations section, will need to refer to the other as-of-yet unmade civilizations as simply [Civilization __] So you can get a grip on the basic geographical area of each planned Civilization, they are as follows: Obviously, that's just a quick run through in Microsoft Paint, and the actual borders will be much more distinctive and realistic than straight and smoothly curved lines. [Civilization 1], in the upper left, is where I begin today.

Cool ideas going. Might I say, though, that rather than a stereotypical map of "Empire goes here", what if the Empire's are spread all around and separated because someone else owns the land between? That is, if there's current wars going on, and such.
Better than what I normally muster.

The time period which I'm mapping is essentially the most peaceful this world has ever been. Very distinct and clear borders.

If it was a definite thing, it would have it. I have no idea where the story and civilizations will progress. For now, I'm just concerned about mapping and cultures! So no worries :]
